The Old Dairy, as the name suggests, is a former detached barn which has been tastefully converted and restored into quality luxury accommodation sleeping four people. After a busy day exploring you can look forward to relaxing in your peaceful holiday cottage hidden away in tranquil surroundings, with the luxury hot tub creating the perfect place to unwind. With a stunning open plan living/dining/kitchen area, the stylish kitchen and high quality decor give a sense of quality and luxury, combined with the rustic charm of exposed wooden beams, cosy wood burner and beautiful countryside views.
The fully fitted kitchen is well-equipped with everything you will need for your stay including a dishwasher and a separate utility room has a washer/dryer. The dining area has bi-folding doors which open up to make the most of the countryside views, wild flower meadow and give access to the peaceful enclosed garden. The living area has leather sofas, a cosy wood burner and Smart TV with Netflix package for your entertainment. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and en-suite bathroom, the second bedroom is a zip and link super kingsize and can be a twin on request. There is a superb family bathroom with freestanding slipper bath and separate walk-in shower. Outside is where the fun begins, with a luxury hot tub and relaxing garden furniture. The terrace is set with table and chairs, perfect to enjoy an al fresco supper as the sun goes down.
Nearby Pickering is a characterful town with a fine selection of independent shops, art galleries and antique shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby, where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North Yorks Moor. Beach 20 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

This accommodation really has the wow factor - absolutely gorgeous and honestly looks better in person than the photos. We didn’t realise that we had goats and a sheep just next door and a beautiful meadow too - how wonderful! We came with our 5yo and 2yo and setup a travel cot in the second bedroom. It was plenty big enough with a bit of moving the beds around. A large Tommee Tippee bling fits really well on the window too if you are coming with small children and need to block out the light. There is a dishwasher, washer-dryer, airer, highchair, all the things you could need! Lots of things for a dog too, including a crate, should you arrive with a furry friend. The WiFi was excellent and supported our baby camera and PS5 with no issues. Stuart greeted us on arrival and was friendly, very accommodating with the hot tub too in terms of making the temperature safe for our children. We received an electronic welcome pack around a week before which I thought was great, I’ve not had that before but clearly shows that the owners care about their guests. We found cake, milk and apple juice in the fridge which was a lovely touch. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms really nice. The hot tub was lovely but the cover does block what I think is the best view of the fields and sheep, bit of a shame but enjoyable nonetheless. The garden was a great size and the meadow was great fun for the children. It felt like they could have their freedom but were still safe as it was fully enclosed. We experienced a lot of flies whilst there, which is just the nature of it being a farm and hot weather - there was fly spray which came in handy a few times. We’d definitely bring a few more cans of fly spray with us should we stay again as I was conscious of using it all. The only other niggle is that the hall lights are on a sensor that I couldn’t see you could turn off, it disturbed our kids quite a bit at bed time so we ended up taking the bulbs out and that solved the issue. We completely forgot to put them back in from the drawer upon checking out (and only remembered once back home) so our apologies for that!It’s about 40 minutes to Whitby and Scarborough but the views on the way there are lovely. We also had an Asda delivery whilst at the accommodation which was very handy. Overall we had a fantastic week and would definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
