Fauna's Corner in Whitby is a well-regarded cottage, praised for its homely feel, beautiful location, and proximity to local attractions. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable furnishings, the scenic walks into town, and the wildlife. The on-site pool and play areas are appreciated, though some maintenance issues were noted. While most found the cottage clean, a few guests encountered cleanliness concerns. Thoughtful touches like welcome gifts added to the experience, though these are not guaranteed.
Most guests found Fauna's Corner to be clean and tidy, with several positive comments on its presentation. However, there were instances where guests reported cleanliness issues, such as finding dog treats and a tablet on the floor, a dirty fridge, and a general need for a deep clean. These incidents have slightly affected the overall impression of cleanliness.
The location of Fauna's Corner is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to Whitby, and the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Guests enjoyed the easy access to local walks and the scenic views, including the nearby river and steam trains. The location is considered ideal for families and those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Guests have consistently remarked on the comfort of the beds and the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. The property is described as homely and welcoming, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces. Some guests, however, mentioned issues with the shower height and heating regulation, which suggests room for improvement in certain aspects of comfort.
The on-site facilities, including the swimming pool and play areas, were generally well-received. However, guests reported several maintenance issues such as problems with the toilet flush, radiator covers, and heating system. There were also comments about the need for better recycling facilities and updates to the bathroom. These factors have led to a moderate score in this category.
While some guests mentioned receiving welcome gifts such as wine, biscuits, and even a bottle of gin, which were appreciated as thoughtful gestures, there is not enough information to determine if such gifts are a consistent offering for all guests. As such, it cannot be guaranteed that future guests will receive the same, and the score for thoughtfulness is set to null.

Quiet area, lots of walks and just what we needed. Cottage is small but well laid out and has everything you could need. The bathroom ceiling over the shower is low, and a bit difficult for tall people but this was pointed out in the listing. The on site pool is lovely and clean and I had it to myself each time I visited. Would definitely return to this cottage.

I know it stated the shower was low , it really needs updating, the heating system was hard to understand how to work and regulate temperature, I got in touch with Sykes to let them know about the bedroom radiator which we thought wouldnât turn off , took 2 days to cool down, finally outside needs regular maintenance

The swimming pool was great, nice size, although the changing rooms were not very clean. The playgrounds could do with an upgrade as there was only 1 swing and a see saw. The bbq was a great extra, looked brand new. Highly recommended, hope to stay again in the future.
