About this property

Positioned in the heart of the seaside town of Whitby, is this charming, terraced cottage, Anchor Cottage. With the beach, bars and shops just paces away, this pet-friendly home welcomes families, friends and their pooch. Discover a roadside parking space before passing the threshold into the bright sitting room; here you can unwind on the sofa or armchair with a cup of tea in hand. From here, stairs will lead you to the kitchen/diner on the lower-ground-floor, with a range cooker, separate fridge and freezer, as well as a washer/dryer and dishwasher to do the cleaning up for you. Settle down at the dining table underneath the beamed ceilings as you tuck-into hearty meals and chatter about the adventures so far. After a day exploring North Yorkshire, head to the first floor where you can opt for either a soothing soak in the bath or a quick wash in the overhead shower. When sleep calls, there is a second-floor double with vaulted ceilings, as well as a double with bedside lamps on the first floor so you can enjoy a nighttime read. Awaken with a morning brew and home-cooked breakfast in the kitchen/diner before getting ready for the exciting day ahead. Visit Whitby Museum to learn about the town's maritime history, then enjoy a walk along the picturesque Whitby Beach. The beaches are sandy and golden and then visit the pretty harbour with its famous swing bridge. Whitby is edged with stylish wine bars and award-winning restaurants. Visit the quaint fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The village is a popular tourist destination, with its picturesque harbour, narrow streets and picturesque cottages. The National Trust Coastal Centre is a must-see, as is the Old St Stephen's Church. There are also some great restaurants and bars, including the Wayfarer Bistro. Venture further afield to the seaside town of Scarborough for a fun-filled day, where you can take a stroll along the beautiful seafront, enjoy some retail therapy in the town centre or explore the many attractions on offer – Scarborough Castle, SEA LIFE Scarborough and Oliver's Mount Racing are just a few of the highlights. For a memorable trip to north Yorkshire, make Anchor Cottage your base.

Whitby is a beach town and port at the mouth of the River Esk in North Yorkshire's Scarborough region. The cottage is lovely and cosy with everything you need. We stayed a week and only used the car once, there is so much to do and the buses get you up and down the coast, so our 3 days on the Cleveland Way were made very easy! We love beer so our recommendations are Beer O'Clock, Arch and Abbey, Esk Vaults and the Abbey Brewery. The Hart Inn at Sandsend is also good and a fab walk along the beach and back. Thanks for sharing this lovely cottage and thank you for the delicious goodies.

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location. Super clean and beautiful even let us have a late check out. We were super lucky! Would recommend the Esk Vaults, The Endeavour, The Dolphin, The Duke of York, Sander's Yard Bistro, Rusty Shears, the Thai restaurant, Cosa Nostra. There are too many to name, had an amazing time, can't wait to come again.

Lovely area and central to everything and not far from railway station either. When we arrived we couldn’t get into the first floor bedroom and rang to say we were having problems within in ten minutes there was a maintenance man there who fixed the problem. That’s excellent service. We were unable to use cooker as we couldn’t get it to work but that was prob us we couldn’t find main switch to turn on. No probs there was plenty places to eat nearby. Fabulous place.
