Guests say

Bay View Cottage in Whitby is praised for its spaciousness, beautiful rural location, and friendly hosts. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable layout, though some noted room for improvement in cosiness and digital amenities. The area's tranquillity and stunning views are highlights, with many looking forward to returning.

The property is generally tidy, but there was a mention of a dirty frying pan and a grubby house information book, suggesting some oversight in cleanliness. However, no other major issues were reported.

The location is highly praised for its stunning sea views, peacefulness, and proximity to local attractions like the Cinder Track and Robin Hood's Bay, making it a desirable spot for guests.

The cottage is considered comfortable with lots of space. There was a complaint about an uncomfortable mattress, but this seems to have been addressed with new mattresses, although firmness is subjective.

Facilities are good overall, but there are comments on the lack of digital TV in the lounge and neglected children's play area. No instruction booklets for some appliances were a minor inconvenience.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches from the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The setting is absolutely beautiful and the views are just incredible! The cottage is cosy, homely and very well equipped. It was also immaculately clean. There was always plenty of hot water available and the heating worked very efficiently. The kitchen has all the things you need to prepare and cook. The children also loved the climbing frame and slide in the lovely garden area behind the properties. The courtyard is very pretty and full of sun in the morning. It is also very spacious for parking cars and unloading luggage straight in through the kitchen door. There was no lugging of heavy items or boxes for any distance! The gorgeous beaches and pretty villages are a short drive from the cottage, though walkable for those who perhaps want to do so with dogs and without little ones. Our dog also felt very at home! Aldi and Sainsbury’s are an easy ten minute drive away. We absolutely loved our stay here and we will be back to enjoy more of the beautiful Yorkshire coast. Thank you so much to June and Alan for a fantastic holiday.

However, we really enjoyed our short stay despite the rain. It would be great to come back sometime when the footpaths are a bit drier!

We like this property, it’s got a good layout for us and good facilities overall for the price point. The new mattresses made a great difference compared to last year ( albeit harder than we’d have liked, but that’s a personal preference!). The only improvement that we’d like to see inside is a digital tv in the lounge so all the family can watch tv. There is a digital one in the master bedroom but the lounge still has an old skybox with no viewing card, and the TV is not digital so channels are very limited! Most holiday lets have better these days. The children’s play area is a bit neglected so could do with a tidy up. We hope to return as not withstanding the above, it’s a good property in a great location.
