The beautiful property has many period features and is decorated with style and comfort in mind. The five bedrooms accommodate nine guests over four floors.

A warm welcome awaits. The fun, colourful ‘WHITBY’ lettering in the entrance hallway and open fire in the smart sitting room make an instantly homely first impression. Guests will also appreciate the period detailing of the property including original bay windows and wooden flooring.

Guests can enjoy wonderfully convivial mealtimes in the dining room with its characterful scrubbed pine table. There are plenty of books and puzzles to occupy those quieter holiday moments after long days spent outdoors. French doors lead from the dining room onto a rear courtyard garden, with two quirky Whitby beach huts, BBQ, table and chairs – all of which add to the holiday feel of the place.

There is an excellent, good size galley-style kitchen, which is well-equipped for large groups.

Head up to the first floor and rest in the tranquil, sunlit drawing room with gorgeous bay windows offering long-range moorland views. Admire the period features; cornicing, ceiling rose and stunning Victorian plasterwork.

This floor also has a beautiful double bedroom with a king size French-style rattan bed and decorative cast iron fireplace. The family bathroom is sure to wow with its free-standing ball and claw bath and large separate shower.

To the second floor is a charming twin bedroom, complete with bunting and beach-inspired décor, also a lovely double bedroom with cast iron fireplace and views over the front garden. Guests are indulged with another smart bathroom, again with a free-standing bath with shower over.

Admire the view of medieval Whitby Abbey and glimpse the sea from the third floor single bedroom. The beach theme continues in a playfully-decorated twin bedroom.

There is a pretty rose-bordered garden with lawn to the front, plus a rear courtyard space to enjoy al fresco breakfasts or barbeques in the warmer weather. There are a few unrestricted on-street parking spaces immediately outside the house and further parking on the opposite side of the road, which is called Fishburn Road.

The harbour, beach, shops, restaurants, bars and cafés are a short stroll away as well as an excellent fish and chip shop a two minute walk away – an absolute must when in Whitby! Why not learn the history of Whitby in a novel way, by joining in one of the town’s Ghost Walks? Or experience a romantic steam train ride through the North York Moors, departing from nearby Whitby station.

The Blue House makes a beautiful base from which to discover fascinating Whitby.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. Whitby is a charming and atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
