Better still, being just across the road from the award winning local butchers, selling quality produce and the best breakfast sandwiches in the area, breakfast in bed can be effortless . The River Esk is within walking distance from the cottage, perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. A garden centre is a short drive away. The Train Station and bus stop with routes into Whitby or the countryside villages are within walking distance. Off Road Parking now available, a short 2 minute flat walk from the property. Pack your towels and beach essentials for a day in Whitby to relax on Whitby's golden sands, climb the 199 Steps for panoramic views, and admire the looming ruins of Whitby Abbey. You'll also find Whitby Golf Club for a game or two with sea views, but if you're looking for a quintessential fishing village, be sure to visit Robin Hood's Bay. This charming bay is a picture-postcard location, home to the National Trust's Old Coastguard Station, classic fish and chips takeaway, and curious cobbled streets to wander. Further afield lies the bustling resort town of Scarborough and Filey, or perhaps you'd prefer walking or cycling through the North Riding Forest Park? There are plenty of adventures to be had in the North York Moors, from religious ruins and timeless villages, to walking trails along rivers and through woodland. For a traditional cottage in North Yorkshire, book your stay at Chomley Cottage.

Ruswarp, 1.5 miles inland from Whitby, has old stone cottages lining the main street. Ruswarp has a great pub with hand-pulled real ales and a famous butcher. The Esk Valley Walk passes through the village and takes 25 minutes to reach Whitby. Ruswarp has regular bus service and steam trains run through the single track railway! parking was a major problem as i am disabled and find it very difficult to walk any distance. the so called spar next door to the cottage was practically empty of any kind of groceries. this is not a property for disabled or elderly as the bathroom is as far away from the bedroom as you could imagine,so at night was a nightmare.

Well equiped and really cosy, clean and comfortable. Despite previous reviews the parking was'nt a problem we unloaded at the side and parked just a little down the road round a corner and did'nt move the car again. Welcome basket and treats for the dogs made it just perfect. Thank you, we will be back
