Guests say

Fairleigh Whitby is a well-appointed cottage with spacious and comfortable bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a cosy atmosphere. Its proximity to Whitby harbour and town centre makes it an attractive location for visitors. Despite some concerns over parking and minor maintenance issues, guests have enjoyed their stays and many would return.

The property generally appears clean, with specific praise for the bedrooms and bathrooms. However, there are reports of dust, cobwebs, and snail trails, suggesting room for improvement in thoroughness and consistency of cleaning.

The location is appreciated for its proximity to Whitby town centre and local attractions. However, the property's position on a busy junction has been noted as a downside by some guests.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy. Some guests mentioned the need for better mattresses or toppers, but overall the comfort level is high.

The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, but there are several reports of minor maintenance issues such as broken appliances, lack of hot water for all guests, and non-functioning TVs. These issues detract from the overall experience.

There is insufficient information regarding thoughtful touches such as gifts or special amenities provided by the hosts, so a score cannot be accurately given.

The spacious and comfortable sitting room has a warming electric fireplace with a wooden mantle piece and a large bay window throwing in plenty of light.

Also handy cloakroom and utility just through the kitchen, where the dishwasher and the washing machine and the tumble dryer are as well as being able to hang your coats and all your shoes and boots here too and then shut the door on them so they are not in use, then a toilet and basin in the boiler room beyond completes the ground floor. The four spacious bedrooms, all with wall-mounted TVs are set over the two upper floors, three of them with en-suite shower rooms and one with an additional sofa bed, offering flexibility in sleeping arrangements. Two of the bedrooms have far reaching views to the distant hills.

The contemporary family bathroom is situated on the half landing and has a lovely deep freestanding bath and a walk-in shower. At the front of the house is an patio, while there is off-road parking for one car at the back, a rare find in Whitby. A ten-minute walk down Prospect Hill brings you into the hustle and bustle of this historic town, with its narrow streets and alleyways to explore, the cobbled market square and abundance of independent shops. Partake in a scrumptious afternoon tea in the numerous quaint tea rooms, enjoy cocktails overlooking the harbour and not to be missed are the renowned fish and chips.

Whitby boasts safe sandy beaches, coastal cruises and an attractive harbour. Climb the 199 steps up to the famous Whitby Abbey, where you can join the Cleveland Way for an invigorating cliff top walk, sure to blow the cobwebs away. For the more adventurous, book an evening ghost walk, sure to be a big hit with everyone! With the stunning scenery of the moors to explore and the rugged coastline to discover, this charming property makes a wonderful base for families and friends throughout the year.

Whitby is a seaside town in North Yorkshire, England, situated near the River Esk on the East Coast. The town developed as a shipping port during the middle ages, but it only became a tourist spot in the Georgian period, with the construction of the railway. With its close proximity to the North York Moors and the abundance of historical architecture, this is not a place to be missed.

We were coming there as a group of friends for my wife's birthday celebrations. First impressions of the house were very good, nice large rooms, comfy sofas and beds. Obviously parking was a bit of an issue but we knew all about that beforehand so not a lot can be done about that so we managed. House fit our needs really well, couple of little niggles. Firstly the curtains in the lounge didn't close fully and one of the lamps on the fireplace had a bulb out, I know you allow dogs in the property and the was no evidence of this in the house apart from the lounge which did have a doggie odour about it, might want to consider having the carpet cleaned which would probably help. Secondly had a little issue getting hot water but after a bit of time managed to get it working. Couple of bedrooms showing signs of needing a little redecorating. Overall we had a really good stay and the house proved a nice bolthole for our celebrations and visits into the lovely harbour area. Thank you.

! The nextdoor neighbour moaning 3 times about parking in the tiny space. Also would be nice for instructors on how to boost the hot water and use the oven. Very minimal snags that did not impact our stay Very lovely house and good location.
