Once you’ve walked the steep road to the viaduct, the cinder path is an easy going 40 mins walk into Whitby. (Or 20 if you like a route march!) The views are worth the hill. The views from the cottage are worth staying in for, even star gazing on a clear night is spectacular. Lisa has thought of everything and is an excellent host, on text if anything needed or to suggest things to look out for. Whitby distillery is walking distance at the moment, for a gin and rum tour which is brilliant. A fabulous week. Our lad was able to use the extra room upstairs to work on his uni dissertation whilst we watched tv in the evenings so that was a boon for us too. We’ll definitely come again.

After our usual trips we had a lovely warm and cosy cottage to come back to. The weather outside was frightening, but we were snug as a bug in a rug. We believe this cottage has the best unrestricted view around the river bend, and are always fascinated when watching the wildlife on the river. Seeing the steam train pass by on the opposite side of the river is an added bonus, and being visited each day by the ducks looking in the patio doors to let us know it’s time to be fed is the icing on the cake. Not only is there plenty of parking outside the cottage, the dedicated walks into Whitby let us avoid taking the car into town. Yet more improvements to the cottage had been made since our last visit in October. The owner is determined her guests are going to enjoy their break in a comfortable and relaxing setting. Thank you. Your efforts are much appreciated.
