Great location with fantastic views, loved watching the wildlife and made friends with the local ducks on the doorstep. House had all that you need for a holiday and was clean and tidy. Walked into Whitby and up to the Abbey which was a bit of a hike but well worth it. We had decided not to take our little dog which was a good decision… no secure garden and shared outside area with neighbours, she would have also been a pest with the ducks and the water directly behind the property! Overall we had a great time and loved the area. Would highly recommend.

Cottage and furnishings etc were very good and bedding was spotless. However, there was one issue we had with the toilet on the first floor - there was obviously a blockage because, on arrival, when I opened the bathroom door, the smell was horrendous!! At first we thought it might be from an outside drain but, after we used the toilet a few times, we could see the water level rising so had to stop using it before the contents overflowed onto the floor. Because there were 2 other toilets in the property, we used them instead and I waited until the day before we left to report it because we didn’t want to have to stay in waiting for a plumber to arrive. I eventually reported it so it could be fixed before any other guests arrived. I was so very disappointed because the smell even permeated out onto the landing. The rest of the cottage was in good order, and in a beautiful setting, but the plumbing issue would make me reluctant to go back, or to recommend it to friends and family. Why on earth the cleaners didn’t smell it and have it fixed before we arrived, I’ll never know. It ruined what was otherwise a lovely holiday and I look forward to your comments.
