About this property

In the heart of Whitby, you will discover this characterful fisherman's cottage, only a short stroll away from the beach and even closer to the magnificent harbour. For couples wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle or travellers wishing to explore the village and beyond, this retreat is the perfect blend of charm and modernised living. A spacious open-plan living area is located on the lower ground floor, featuring a kitchen, a sofa for some well-deserved relaxation, and a dining table which centres the room. The layout is nicely accessorised and will become a large heart-warming place to join the family after a long day. For some quiet time, the next floor houses a cosy lounge, home to leather seating. There is plenty of space to unwind here at Robins Nest. The next stairway leads up to a family bathroom and a double bedroom laced in soothing colours, overlooked by traditional ceiling beams. For more of this, the second bedroom is tucked away onto the top floor, elevated by vaulted beams with a dressing area, perfect for getting ready ahead of those daily adventures. After relaxing indoors, why not pour a refreshing drink and head outside to the small courtyard where you can rest on the furniture and take in the pleasant location. Whitby offers an excellent choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, with its quaint cobbled market place, and beautiful harbour which is accessible as soon as you park up your car. Children will enjoy the sandy beaches, complete with donkey rides and brightly painted beach huts, whilst the seafront Spa Pavilion Theatre hosts shows and films throughout the main season. There are numerous attractions in the vicinity, including the market towns of Pickering and Helmsley and coastal villages, such as Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay. This well-placed cottage promises a memorable getaway.

This cottage is located in the heart of Whitby which means Sandsend, Saltwick and the Cleveland Way coastal path are all accessible.

Whitby is situated at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this memorable part of Yorkshire, with its coastline and close proximity to the notable North York Moors. Whitby is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and of course the Abbey.

Very comfortable with good facilities. We weren’t sure if we could sit on the outside table as a neighbour kept using it!! We thought the parking had been explained very well and did not find it an issue at all.

It’s been our 4th holiday to Whitby and the cottage itself was my favourite property that we have stayed in. We loved how it was tucked away but still right in the centre. The location was perfect. We loved how many of the original features remained and have been well looked after. Each room was cosy, spotlessly clean and inviting. A few tweaks that we felt could have made this perfect… The shower screen could do with an upgrade. The suction at the bottom that holds the screen in place is too loose and any slight movement causes it to come away leaving the bathroom floor very wet and the bathroom window only stays open if you use something to prop it up. I’m not sure who is in charge of the alleyway and courtyard but it could do with a little TLC. Whilst I appreciate this is nothing to do with the property itself, it could do with a tidy up and a good sweep which will make the property even more appealing. The bedrooms were very specious, the main bedroom on the 1st floor had beautiful high ceilings which made it very light and airy but the mattress wasn’t the comfiest. It felt quite thin. The room on the top floor was perfect for the kids. The slanted roof did make the space around the bed awkward but the kids were fine so it’s definitely better for kids up there. Lastly there is no Wi-Fi in the property. Which is fine if you have an unlimited data package but if you don’t then you may struggle. All in all we had a wonderful stay and even looking to book the same property again next year. Thank you.
