Guests say

Swallows Nest in Whitby is a well-received cottage praised for its prime location and cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the clean, comfortable accommodation and the thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack. While some maintenance issues are noted, the charm and convenience of the cottage, along with its harbour views, contribute to a positive experience.

The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it tidy upon arrival. However, some reviews mention areas needing more attention, such as cobwebs and pet hair, which slightly detract from the overall cleanliness.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its centrality and proximity to local attractions, restaurants, and shops. The convenience of the location and the harbour views are consistently appreciated by guests.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the living spaces cosy, especially with the log burner. Some guests suggest improvements for seating comfort and mention the benefit of a ground floor bedroom for those with mobility issues.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a good kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. However, guests have reported maintenance issues such as a stained bath, peeling paint, and non-functional lights, indicating a need for some refurbishment.

Many guests express gratitude for the welcome pack provided, finding it a lovely gesture. It is noted, however, that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be a consistent offering for all stays.

It was so lovely to walk into, the heating was on so it was really cosy, the welcome pack was absolutely wonderful and it was spotlessly clean (including all the furniture). It wasn’t at all damp and it really did look exactly like the photographs. The beds and bed linens where really comfortable and of a high standard as were all of the items in the cottage. We really appreciated the Christmas decorations too! I would not hesitate in coming back to Swallows Nest, the house is so lovely and has the wow factor! Parking only issue but you can get a weekly pass for £8 a day from the Co op (only over the Bridge) which is a bit cheaper and you wouldn’t have the faff of renewing the meter.
