Lovely setting and cottage, if you like peace and quiet, which we do. If you want a show room house this isn’t it but we don’t like places like that anyway. It is comfy, cozy and homely but there are a few snagging points that need addressing: the back door into the rear garden keeps sticking. We found it difficult to open as it has no door handle just a catch at the top. Also the outside light at the top of the door is not working so we had to use a torch. The toaster wasn’t working correctly as it doesn’t pop up your toast. So they kept burning! Some of the door latches in the house did not lock correctly. Also the lock on the downstairs toilet isn’t great, you could lock yourself in if you are on your own. Not a lot of cupboard space in the kitchen as they are full of glasses and plates. So if you are doing a big shop you have no where to put your stuff. All the issue's are easy to fixed and would make the experience more enjoyable. I did notice reading previous reviews online that most of these problems were stated but nothing has been done which is a shame. We did have a good time and would love to stay again.

Superb location at the 'end of the line'. It's a shame the local pub closed, but others are within a short drive. The Anchorage has lots of character and is very comfortable and quiet - the log burner and heating are brilliant. It's a great base for this part of the N Yorks coast. A little bit of TLC wouldn't go amiss - weeds at the rear, light above back door not working, the shower leaks down the wall by the stairs if the shower head points a certain way, no guidance re: refuse collection - all really minor points easily addressed. We would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely accommodation, very clean and everything we needed.Outstanding sea views to the front and farmland to the rear. The cottage is about a two mile drive (5 mins) from the main road, via a small country lane with plenty of passing places. The nearest shop for bread, milk etc is in Lythe village on the main road. Excellent homemade cakes, scones, quiches etc. The cottage is excellent for a calm, relaxing holiday but also has lovely walks from the doorstep. We would definitely recommend the cottage.
