Miner Jack's is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and beautiful location. Guests have enjoyed the comfortable furnishings, sea views, and proximity to local attractions. While most reviews are positive, a few guests have noted issues with damp, heating, and maintenance.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotlessly clean and well-presented, contributing to a high cleanliness score. However, one review mentioned dog mess on arrival, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for its sea views, cliff top walks, and proximity to the Cleveland Way and local villages. The only drawback mentioned was the limited access to the beach due to a landslide, which has a minor impact on the score.
Guests have described the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and warm, with comfortable beds and a welcoming atmosphere. A few reports of the cottage being cold on arrival and issues with the log burner have slightly reduced the comfort score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good wifi. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as damp and flaking paint, and difficulties with kitchen appliances, which affect the score.
While some guests appreciated the tea bags and cookies provided, there is not enough consistent information about additional thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.
70 Rosedale Lane is an endearing little cottage, set in Port Mulgrave, close to the amenities of Staithes. Set over two floors with glorious sea views, this quaint escape welcomes families of four seeking a spot close to this admirable heritage coastline. Discover the kitchen, small but perfectly formed with all the essentials for a week-away, whilst the dining room is ideal for hosting mealtimes. Move into the lounge, where you can catch-up on your favourite TV shows whilst the woodburning stove offers a gentle warmth. Venture upstairs and make yourself at home in either of the bedrooms, with a king-size and twin on offer.
Completing the interior is the sleek ground-floor bathroom, finished with a freestanding bath and walk-in shower so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. When you’re ready to explore, venture on a dramatic clifftop walk along the Cleveland Way or take a stroll along Porth Mulgrave Beach and look out for fossils, including a wide range of ammonites and dinosaur/reptile remains! The picturesque village of Runswick Bay is nearby and offers a sandy cove, ideal for a lazy afternoon of sunbathing and swimming. Head into Staithes and explore many attractions, particularly the Staithes Heritage Centre Museum, with its exhibits and information on Captain Cook, who lived in the village.
Further afield, the seaside town of Whitby beckons, home to the famous 199 steps, imposing abbey and vast assortment of shops and eateries. If walking is on your agenda, the North York Moors National Park is a real haven for rugged hikes and trails or choose the Saltburn Gill Nature Reserve for its secluded and nature-filled setting. 70 Rosedale Lane offers a fabulous retreat to North Yorkshire, any time of year.
A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

The bed is far too low and very difficult to get in and out of.the bath is great but there is a need for a grab handle?my partner had to call for help because she couldnt get out of the bath, the bath is not secure and moves around.disappointed that there was no mention in the listing about access to the beach area is closed and will be for a couple of years.apart from these issues we had a wonderful stay.

Itâs a cosy little property in a beautiful location about 200 metres from the Cleveland Way. There are lovely views of the cliffs and coastline just at the end of the road. The cottage is well equipped. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in it
