About this property

Florence Cottage is a beautiful, three-storey property in the popular village of Hinderwell, in the North York Moors National Park. Ideal for a small family, this property is in a fantastic location close to local amenities and a great base from which to explore the area. On the ground floor, the spacious lounge is the perfect spot to get together after an adventure packed day; cosy up and watch a film by the fire or enjoy reading a book by the large bay window for a moments peace and quiet. The light cream and wood effect kitchen has everything you’d need so pop the kettle on and enjoy a brew in the morning and sit down together as a family around the dining table later on in the day, to enjoy your evening meal. The handy utility room is a blessing for walkers, cyclists and dog owners – the extra space gives you plenty of room to store all of your gear, boots and coats after a day exploring the nearby moors and coast. The main bedroom is on the first floor of the property - featuring a double bed and matching pine furniture, this room is spacious and boasts a pretty light blue décor. The modern and sleek bathroom, with its light grey tiles and white units, is ideal whether you fancy a quick morning shower or want to relax and unwind in a long, hot bath. As we venture to the second floor, there is twin bedroom and a separate sitting area, with a television, sofa and extra storage making this the perfect property for families looking for that little extra space. Hinderwell is a charming village, nestled between Runswick Bay and Staithes in the North York Moors National Park, making it the ideal location for a relaxing getaway. The local town has many amenities including a range of local pubs, fish and chip shops, tennis courts, village hall and a church. Near to many coastal walking routes, Hinderwell is an ideal base for walking holidays, but venture further afield and you have access to popular seaside hot-spots and attractions – Take a short drive to Whitby and explore the cobbled streets, famous Abbey and Dracula connections, visit Port Mulgrave Beach and hunt fossils in the beautiful harbour bays, discover local history and head to the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum or the Zetland Museum where you can discover the oldest lifeboat in the world. With so much to see and do in North Yorkshire, Florence Cottage offers you a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding areas.

Hinderwell is a small village resting within the North York Moors, situated close to the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay, and nine miles away from the harbour town of Whitby. Within the village you will find a selection of shop and pubs, and is surrounded by the coast and countryside, with opportunities for walking, cycling, gliding, riding and fishing.

Once inside we immediately felt comfortable & 'at home' it was like staying with an aunt for the weekend, the heating was timed to be on for us, down stairs was exactly what we'd hoped for in a dog friendly, traditional cottage (though still very clean & smelling nice.) Everything you could need was there ready to use, we were even treated to some of our favourite biscuits for a coffee on arrival, a fresh bottle of milk was in the fridge for us too (thankyou-we'd had a long journey & very much appreciated this!) My boys went upstairs & quickly found their bedroom in the attic, they were so comfortable in their bedroom & loved their own little 'living room' just outside their bedroom, they felt quite grown up as it was like a grown up bedsit for them! The bathroom was spacious & warm, my youngest son & I both really enjoyed taking advantage of the deep bath as we have only a shower in our own home. The master bedroom was so comfortable & clean, there was plenty of room in there & should we have needed a travel cot in there it would have still been very comfortable. The window overlooked the little track to the cottage & was full of English country charm. My family & I all agreed that we can't wait to visit again & wouldn't consider staying anywhere else as Florence is so perfectly suited to outer family ❤️ Thankyou so much for our comfortable stay, our boys have created some beautiful memories during our weekend stay ❤️

The cottage is warm, cosy and the welcome pack much appreciated. It’s extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen. I could have made a cake! Thought the slow cooker was a great idea, coming back to chilli after a long dog walk - perfect. Situated in a lovely quiet position in the village and close to many walking routes, ideal. There are so many beautiful places to explore, close by. We had a problem during our stay - no hot water. I phoned Sykes cottages to report the fault and the cottage owner rang me, within 10 minutes. A heating engineer was arranged and promptly rectified the fault- brilliant service- thank you. We would both recommend this cottage/owner,to anyone looking for a value for money, clean, comfortable, holiday accommodation. Hoping to return again in the future.

). We found it an ideal getaway from the Christmas stresses and we made full use of the local pubs to enter in to the festive spirit! Loved hearing and seeing the farmer and dogs come past each day on the quad. Happy New Year!
