This stone built former granary, attached to the owners’ home, has been sympathetically converted to offer first floor holiday accommodation of a very good standard, within the stunning countryside of the Howardian Hills. The beautiful, well maintained shared garden gives way to magnificent views of the countryside, whilst the private sitting-out area is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, with freshly laid eggs provided by the owners’ resident hens. A designated aonb, between the North York Moors National Park, The Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York, with an abundance of walks, scenic villages and country houses. Coastal resorts and the Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach. Castle Howard, the picturesque village of Hovingham and the traditional market town of Helmsley are all close by. The vibrant city of York is just 18 miles away. Shop and pub 3 miles.

Lovely stay at Highfield barn. Accommodation was perfect, comfortable and cosy with everything we needed, including the nice touch of eggs, biscuits, milk, tea and coffee and the lovely homemade marmalade. Location was ideal with beautiful scenery.

A very comfortable cottage, well equipped and furnished. The heating was on when we arrived and John came to welcome us. Very friendly and helpful host and very generous welcome pack. Although a big shower cubicle, it was a little awkward for my husband who has mobility issues so a grab rail would help. The location is good for getting to visitor venues in the area but in the winter months the narrow dark lanes are a bit challenging! We'll return in the lighter days! Many thanks to John.
