This semi-detached 200-year-old stone-built cottage is simply stunning and is everything you would want from a self-catering holiday home. Dating back to the 1800s, Home Cottage has been given the love and attention it deserves and still retains its sense of history and offers a real home from home feel. The cottage itself is just a short drive from the famed Castle Howard with its fabulous grounds making a great place for a family day out with various activities available to keep everyone entertained. Entrance is gained into the comfortable living room which is complete with a stunning wood burner adding extra charm and additional heat, giving a great place to snuggle up in front of the fire on those colder evenings with a glass or two of red wine. The country style kitchen which is fully equipped for all your culinary needs. To the rear of the cottage the enclosed private patio which is a great place for having a glass of fizz al fresco or taking in the morning air with a coffee.
Hovingham is a beautiful village set on the edge of The Howardian Hills situated close to Castle Howard and easy reach to the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the stunning North Yorkshire Coast meaning you have quick access to many scenic walks and fantastic bike trails. The village has a high-end restaurant, hotel with bar and restaurant, bakery with tearooms along with a village store and coffee shop offering lots of choice for food. Hovingham Hall stands in the centre of this picturesque village. Home Cottage is just eight miles from the wonderful market towns of Helmsley and Malton and just 17 miles from York, which is a must.

We spent our Christmas this year at Home Cottage with our 3 children and dog and it was our best yet. The cottage is well thought out and had everything we needed to hand. It is a home from home. It was clean, warm and comfortable the log burner is a great feature. The cottage was decorated for Christmas with a tree and touches of decorations around the house which made our stay extra special. The village its self is beautiful and very picturesque with a local shop, bakery, restaurant, pub, play area and local walks. The location is nestled away and peaceful, but not too far away from supermarkets in nearby Malton. It was a perfect for retiring to after venturing out to the coast, North Yorkshire moors, Castle Howard or York to name a few places. Belinda was a wonderful host, communication was great and she was very approachable and considerate. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated and we would not hesitate to book again to experience it all again in the spring/summer months.

Great stay house amenities excellent. Has store next door and hotel 2 minutes away with pub and restaurant.Nice quiet location 30 minutes from York, with Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall a few minutes away,Would definitely tecommend

Belinda was a great host and the goodies were greatly appreciated. Lovely cottage in exquisite village, with local convenience store, excellent bakery, restaurants and lovely walks. Good central point for visiting, Castle Howard, Thirsk, York and Beautiful Helmsley.
