Location excellent, near good pub and cafe. Close to Castle Howard which must be visited their cafes are very good and their garden centre. Malton is close by but like many centres is not as nice as it used to be. The cottage has all you require however the stairs are a challenge if you are not agile and the hot tub is really out of bounds for people who struggle with mobility, but we had a lovely break and the cottage is very homely we did like it very much. The people are so friendly and helpful which is always a plus.

Location good as we were going to York races. Pretty village, and we love north Yorkshire. We rent cottages as there are 3 of us and paying for 2 double rooms makes it expensiveWell placed for moors and York and close to castle howard.Coffee machine is a vertuo espresso, a few capsules provided so you need to take your own.Cottage is cold,(we were there in august!). Thermostat set to max at 70. Always felt a bit damp.Aga wood burning stove good but you need to Google for instructions on use of air vent controls. It was ok when we had an evening in and could get it going well but we were out a few evenings which meant we came home to a cold house with no time to get stove going. Wood and kindling provided - phew !Supplementary oil fired radiators would solve it.Plenty of hot water.Internet - goodHot tub in Yorkshire - maybe !Decor - interesting but it is a dark cottage anyway but cosy when stove lit. Lighting quite atmospheric.Local amenities.Dogh cafe excellent - book a table.Crown and cushion - went twice, 2nd time awful and they halved the bill. It is part of a chain of pubs. Caveat emptor !

A fabulous stay this May half term at snowdrop cottage!! Was like a home from home with the addition of a hot tub!!!! All you could need as a fabulous base for exploring the local area with Castle Howard on doorstep and Nunnington Hall as well as Malton and Pickering (where we caught the train to whitby). The decor is gorgeous with a fab shower, great kitchen full of aray of pots, pans and utensils, perfectly warming lounge area and very comfortable beds. We thoroughly enjoyed a breakfast one morning at Doug cafe and fabulous cakes taken away for lunch and would defo reccommend! We ate at the pub one evening but on a future visit would be more likely to try other pubs outwith the village. All in all a great stay and would love to return to snowdrop in the future!!
