The Shepherd's Hut near Montrose receives glowing praise for its peaceful, private setting and stunning countryside views. Guests consistently highlight the well-equipped, clean, and cosy accommodation, with the hot tub being a particular favourite. The host is frequently described as friendly and helpful, and the property is ideal for both relaxation and exploring the local area. While a few minor issues are mentioned, such as the access road and mattress comfort, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended rural retreat.
Cleanliness is frequently praised, with guests describing the hut as spotless, tidy, and well-maintained. Only one or two reviews mention minor maintenance issues, but these do not detract from the overall impression of a very clean property.
The location is widely celebrated for its tranquillity, privacy, and beautiful views over fields and towards the mountains. Guests appreciate the balance of seclusion and convenience, with Montrose and local attractions within easy reach. The only negative noted is the bumpy access road.
Guests find the hut cosy, warm, and comfortable, with many enjoying restful stays. However, a few mention the mattress could be improved and note limited space for luggage, which slightly lowers the score.
Facilities are highly rated, with the hot tub being a standout feature. The hut is described as well-equipped, with thoughtful kitchen extras and good heating. Minor suggestions include more storage for clothes and a place to dry towels, but overall satisfaction is very high.
Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as Prosecco, chocolates, and even Christmas gifts, as well as the host's helpfulness. While these gestures are appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

A beautifully appointed shepherds hut with everything you need on holiday. The hot tub was lovely with views over the fields. It is not the easiest place to find but Iain’s instructions were perfect. We would definitely recommend it and go again.

Really lovely break from the real world. Lovely hot tub with unspoilt views. Reluctant to recommend this place as I don't want it fully booked next year when we hope to stay again. Prosecco 🥂 and chocolates was also a nice touch.
