About this property

A perfect coastal escape with stunning loch views.. Situated in the quiet Lochside village of Newton, this brand-new contemporary and beautifully decorated cottage has two double bedrooms sleeping up to four people. It is just outside Strachur, home of the famous Creggans Inn, the area boasts many award-winning restaurants and is a fantastic base for many daytrips and excursions. The house has been built to very high eco standards – well insulated, aluminium double-glazed windows, underfloor heating throughout powered by an air source heat pump and with a heat exchange system in every room makes the house extremely comfortable in winter and summer.

At the front of the house is an excellent covered porch perfect for storing wood, hanging wet coats and boots and for sitting out to look at the great views. The open plan living area flows through from a very well-equipped kitchen with dining table to a snug living room with comfy sofas and a wood burner. Both parts of this wonderful room have been set up to allow the views to be admired during meals or when relaxing with their large picture windows which flood the spacious room with light and open out onto the garden, effectively ‘bringing the outdoors in’ – from the kitchen, the windows slide open to allow access to the garden. It is all very well equipped with a Smart TV which includes Free Sat, Wi-Fi, books, maps and games so plenty to entertain guests when settled in front of the wood burner.

In the elegant master double bedroom there is a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room. There is one other attractive double bedroom with a super kingsize bed which converts to twin beds that has use of a family bathroom. High quality mattresses, sheep’s wool duvets, crisp cotton sheets, woollen throws and plenty of soft cushions add to the luxury and comfort of both beds. Parking is right by the front door, and it is a 30 second walk to the beach and jetty in the Newton village. The garden, mostly laid to lawn, wraps around the house and is bordered by the beck which flows into the loch.

There are some fantastic restaurants only a few miles away such as the award-winning Inver. Portavadie Marina and Spa is only 25 miles from Newton and makes for a lovely day trip. Another great day out is a visit to Tighnabruich. The Cowal Peninsula is Argyll’s Secret Coast and there are numerous hill walks and coastal walks for you to discover. There are lots of great walks and things to do in the local area, it is 25 minutes from Inverary, 1½ hours from Oban and Glasgow and a short drive to many places of interest. The cottage has wonderful sea views to the hills and mountains beyond. Beach 100 yards.. All on the

Very cosy comfortable property. The location was perfect for us though some might find it a little distance to a decent supermarket with the nearest being Inveraray or Dunoon. The property was spotlessly clean and the bathrooms and showers were very good and with a super comfortable 6ft bed which we used rather than the bed in the room with the en-suite. The crisp white bedding and comfort was most appreciated. The underfloor heating keeps the temp at a very acceptable level. The view could be super on a clear day but for an old boat parked in the adjacent garden which rather blocks what could be a fabulous view from the kitchen bifold doors. That aside we had a lovely week with great restaurants nearby and Inveraray is definitely worth a visit, and not just for the large Co-op. Loch Fyne Oyster restaurant serves up great food and service with a nice garden centre next door too. Approach to the property is along a short lane but only about half a mile is narrow so we had no issues with access. It rained every day for us but we embraced the cosy retreat at the end of the day. Lovely week.

Fabulous holiday, amazing weather, didn’t want to come home! Especially loved spending our evenings in the “sitooterie” watching the sunset with a glass of wine.
