This was the first family holiday in many many years and it more than delivered for us. We are a family that craves peace and nature with our two dogs and we were more than happy to be on a plot of land that we could call our own for a short period and be as loud as we wanted without upsetting any neighbours! The scenery and local walks are breath taking even at this time of year. As previous reviews mention, you do have to bring some amenities with you but not a problem as we knew this in advance and there is a well-stocked shop/gas station around the corner. We did have some instances where we required speaking to Charles, the property manager but he was always close by and more than happy to help. We were made aware that he was awaiting to amend the downstairs shower to improve the hot water temperature but wasn't too much of a bother as there were two other baths that could be used. We had an eclectic weather experience throughout our stay and the house was more than able to cope keeping us warm and dry. We did have a thunderstorm that took out the Internet on our second last day but wasn't a problem for us as mobile data connection was still pretty good and there was plenty of other things to occupy our time. One of the most magical aspects was having our dogs watch the sheep walk by one of the windows, supplying endless entertainment and a few barks here and there. Having 4 adults and 2 dogs in the car, this left little room in the car so we decided to bring a small trailer. Although the track to the house is narrow and a bit bumpy we were still able to do it and there was ample space for multiple cars, with the bonus of the open barn which we could store the trailer. Internally there is so much charm, fully stocked wood and coal for our stay and the bedrooms were very comfy. Having a ground floor bedroom was ideal for my mum who finds navigating stairs a bit difficult. All-in-all a fantastic break away from the South getting back to our roots. We would recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Inverglen farm. The house is very spacious and warm and we enjoyed many cosy nights sitting by the open fire. We were very grateful for all the logs left for us! The house sits in a beautiful location with plenty of lovely walks available from the doorstep which were perfect for our dog. However, we were disappointed with the level of cleanliness and feel the house could really benefit from a thorough deep clean. The only shower is downstairs and unfortunately wasn’t working upon arrival (no hot water). The owner did send somebody out to look at it as soon as we raised this and was very apologetic. However, it remained broken for the duration of our stay which was a little inconvenient. Overall though we were very comfortable at Inverglen farm and our week went by too quickly! We would love to return soon!

The location of the property is fantastic, from the outside it had an immediately rustic charm that's easy to love. The drive down the single track road can be awkward and will be difficult at certain times of the year, but can be negotiated by a big seven seat MPV, so most cars should be fine.First impressions were generally good, with everything having an old, almost weathered appearance. Unfortunately though, the decor is dated and in desperate need of refreshing. The textiles are a mish-mash of styles and ages and could really benefit from a revamp. The Aga is a lovely touch and kept the old farmhouse warm despite the season, but was otherwise in poor repair and not really useful as a cooker. Fortunately there is a ceramic hob and oven alongside to cook meals. This may all seem like a good reason not to book a stay here, but think again. Despite the decor, despite the dusty nature of the house, in its very own way, it was a fabulously warm and welcoming place to stay for a week. Everything just felt like it should, and the farmhouse was amazingly comfortable to come back to every day.One of the highlights had to be the Internet connection. In this day and age of technological connectivity, almost every other place we have stayed in recent years has had barely adequate coverage. This was enough to keep four kids out of trouble on the evenings.Overall, I would say definitely give this place a try. We had a lovely stay despite the drawbacks, and perhaps even enjoyed our time there as a result of them. A lovely location and home away from home.
