Enjoy a round of golf at Machrihanish Golf Club's links course, try rough shooting or fishing with the owner, and with beautiful scenery to enjoy, a walk amongst the hills is a must, before returning to this delightful, cosy Campbeltown cottage for a drink in the garden, or to curl up in front of the open fire. With plenty of activities on offer, plus the chance to spot a dolphin or seal basking in the local waters, this Campbeltown cottage is an ideal base for exploring this lovely part of Scotland.
Set in a deep bay and sheltered by Davaar Island is Campbeltown, the Kintyre Peninsula's main settlement. Once boasting a vast fishing fleet and (apparently) 34 whisky distilleries, the town now produces two popular single malts - Glen Scotia and Springbank. The Campbeltown Heritage Centre, housed in an old church, is definitely worth visiting, as is the Tartan Kirk - a striking construction that provides an interesting insight into its past life. The 'Wee Picture House', the country's oldest working cinema, is an art-deco fan's dream, whilst just a few miles to the south is The Mull of Kintyre – formerly the Mull of Cantyre – made famous by the Wings song.

The house is spacious and comfortably accommodated our group of 10 adults. The lounge area was a great place to gather, with a cosy fireplace that kept us warm, and the dining space was large enough for everyone to enjoy meals together. We also appreciated the conservatory, which was a nice spot to relax. The kitchen was well-equipped, with plenty of cutlery and cookware, which made it convenient as we prepared most of our meals. The bedrooms were comfortable and offered adequate space. That said, the property would benefit from some updates and a bit of additional cleaning in certain areas. The water pressure was lower than what we're used to, although the hot water supply was reliable. Mobile reception around the house was very limited, and the WiFi connection was quite slow. This made it difficult to stream content on the TV unit with Sky, which could be an area for improvement. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and truly enjoyed the time spent together in this homely space.
