Multiple reviews describe the cottage as clean, warm, and well-maintained, with no significant complaints about cleanliness. Only one review mentions some fixtures and fittings needing replacement, but this does not appear to impact overall cleanliness.

These two semi-detached holiday cottages are situated 0.5 miles up a private farm track, next to the owners’ small working farm in a very quiet, peaceful location, ideal for secluded retreats or as a central touring base to explore Dumfries & Galloway. The cottages are similar in style, Myrtle Cottage (ref 28177) being a converted traditional granite byre with an architect-designed larch clad extension.
They are located near the Solway Coast, close to the world-class ‘7 Stanes’ mountain bike facilities at Dalbeattie and Mabie Forest (also ideal for walking). In the vicinity is Galloway Forest Park, one of a few ‘Dark Sky Parks’ in the western world, recognised for the spectacular starry skies it affords. Dumfries, 25 minutes away, is recognised for links with Robert Burns; visitors may explore his house, sample a dram in Burns’ favourite hostelry - The Globe Inn, or visit the Robert Burns Centre. Other nearby activities include Golf, Fishing, Segway experiences, Bike hire and Canyoning.
Discover unspoilt villages, dramatic coastlines, sandy beaches and rocky coves, with gorgeous views across the Solway Firth to the Lakeland Fells. Local history includes castles, abbeys, historic ruins and neolithic chambered tombs. For artistic interests, the co-owner, Mark Welland, displays some of his artwork on site, being happy to show and discuss his art with guests. Close by, Kirkcudbright (known as the area’s art town), has galleries, museums, cafés, a distillery and a planetarium. Good food and drink can be found in a variety of excellent local farm shops, distilleries, breweries, pubs, cafés and restaurants (many being ’dog friendly’), closest approximately 6 miles.
Wildlife is abundant here, with rspb Mersehead Nature Reserve nearby and Whitecroft Farm having wild roe deer, hare, badgers, bats and numerous birdlife, e.g. red kites and nesting Barn Owls. The owners are happy for guests to meet the farm animals and join in with feeding, including our 2 Highland ’Coos’, tame sheep, or even take our Blacknose Swiss Valais sheep for a wee walk! Whilst ideal for Spring/Summer holidays, the cottages are perfect for cosy Autumn/Winter breaks, great for stargazing and cosying up around the fire.

In a nice peaceful location on a working farm but the hosts were very friendly and gave you a nice welcome. Was given a welcome pack of milk, juice, bread and some biscuits which was very nice. Also available any time if you needed them. Would stay again and recommend the cottages

Wow, what a place, in the middle of nowhere. You could hear a pin drop. No traffic at all. Jet black at night. You could see all the stars. We absolutely loved it. My little dog loved the garden, it was all grass so he loved running around on it. Accommodation was just right. Comfy beds, plenty of towels. It was just what we needed. Dalbeatti was a 10 minute drive away. But apart from a good Chinese called the sea horse, there’s not much else there. We hopefully will go back again. Just to chill out. The owners were lovely and Mark is a fantastic artist. Ask to see his studio. We just loved it. One of the nicest places we’ve stayed in. Thank you Hillary and Mark.
