I could happily live here! Had a great time as always even though the weather wasn't great for the 3 weeks we were away. The track leading up to the cottage is currently having work done on it so hopefully by our next visit it will be easier to access the cottage, that said I have a low car and have never had any problems, I just take it nice and steady. The area is lovely and peaceful and we saw deer, birds and a fox near the cottage. The enclosed garden is massive and our 2 golden retrievers love it. We're counting down the days till we return.

We had a lovely week at Allanhead. The summer room is just fabulous looking out over the sea and watching the sun set on the hills. A very peaceful, relaxing week. We had amazing weather. The garden is spacious and enclosed. So much to see nearby: we all loved Kirkcudbright with all the galleries and Broughton House and garden (NTS). A little further is Threave Garden and Estate (NTS) worth the visit and so much to see. Went with the dog to Brighouse Bay every morning for a dip. Just perfect.

Allanhead is a lovely quiet location, and ideal for walking, which i did a lot of with my 2 dogs. Kirkudbright is about 15, minutes drive away, and although the bridge is closed to trafic, you can park and walk over in minutes. Excellent food at the borgue hotel, and great hosts. We had lovely weather which helps, and if you want peace and quiet this is the place. alan, may 2025.
