Glenauld Cottage is highly praised for its beautiful, dog-friendly garden and peaceful, rural location near Kirkcudbright. Guests appreciate the comfortable setting, friendly owners, and the property's proximity to nature and local amenities. While some find the interior dated, the cottage's charm and the surrounding wildlife more than compensate.
Most guests find the cottage clean and well-presented, though a few noted areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as dust and cobwebs. The majority of reviews, however, do not raise concerns about cleanliness.
The location is consistently lauded for its tranquility, proximity to Kirkcudbright, and the abundance of wildlife and scenic walks. It is described as an ideal setting for both relaxation and exploration.
Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a few remarks about the mattresses being uncomfortable. Overall, the cottage is considered a comfortable retreat.
The cottage is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests enjoy the large garden. However, some guests mention that the interior and amenities are somewhat dated and could benefit from modernisation.
While guests have mentioned receiving biscuits and cake, there are not enough references to gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
This Visit Scotland 3 star graded cottage is dog friendly with an enclosed garden, home to a wide variety of wild birds, nice and cosy for 2 but also large enough for 6 people. The Artists' Town of Kirkcudbright is just a 5 minute drive away.
This Visit Scotland 3 star graded cottage is dog friendly with enclosed garden, home to a wide variety of wild birds, nice and cosy for 2 but also large enough for 6 people. Located in a peaceful private rural setting, overlooking an old hard tennis court, which may be used by prior arrangement with the owners, it has fine countryside views to the south and east. This modernised cottage is adjacent to the stunning tidal Tarff estuary, which supports a wide variety of wildlife and can be viewed from the 2008 footpath to Tongland Bridge and Kirkcudbright.

The cottage has everything you need. It's warm and cosy and in a central area for visiting other places. We've been coming for 20 yes so highly recommend it, also Tom and Celia are always on hand for anything you need or information about the area. Just like going home.

The setting and the cottage outwardly are superb. Internally the cottage is showing its age a little. The kitchen doors bang very loudly when closed which gets to be irritating very much. The bathroom, particularly the shower in the bath would be much better changed to a walk in shower and no bath. We are elderly and felt that the shower situation was potentially dangerous, no handle for support etc
