About this property

Whithorn 1.8 miles. Eden Lodge is a delightful, two-bedroom holiday home nestled on the serene Castlewigg Holiday Park near Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway. With designated parking for one car, decking and lawn areas, and a collection of tastefully-appointed living spaces, this charming abode welcomes a family or group of four friends seeking a relaxing, self-catered getaway just south of the Galloway Forest Park in Scotland. Step into Eden Lodge, your wonderful new escape, and instantly make yourself at home in the well-presented, open-plan living space. A fully-equipped kitchen contains all the equipment the chosen chef requires to rustle up tasty home-cooked dinners, whilst a dining table seating makes a great spot to gather and savour your meals. To relax, head outside to kick back on the enclosed decking, a secure space where your canine companions can roam whilst you toast your getaway. In the evenings, kick back in the sitting area to enjoy a film or two on the Smart TV as you and your loved ones are kept warm by an elegant woodburning stove. When sleep inevitably calls, be sure to rejuvenate with a dip in the bath before you catch your rest in either an inviting double or twin bedroom. If you can tear yourself from your quaint new dwelling, jump in the car and explore what the local area has in store. A short drive south will take you to Whithorn, a historic burgh where you can stock up on essentials at Costcutter, sip a cup of tea at Central Cafe, savour a hearty lunch at the Railway Inn, brush up on history at Whithorn Priory and Museum, or take in some culture at The Wee Garden Gallery. Further afield, make a beeline for the beautiful Galloway House Gardens and the ancient remains of Sorbie Tower on your way to the Galloway Forest Park, a breathtaking landscape home to stunning mountain ranges, scenic hiking trails, pristine lochs, and the noteworthy sites of Buchan Burn Waterfalls, Glentrool Giant Axe Head, Grey Mare's Tail, and the Wild Goat Park. Make memories in Scotland by booking a stay at Eden Lodge.

The former Royal Burgh of Whithorn on the Machars Peninsula in Dumfries and Galloway is renowned for having the first recorded Christian church is Scotland. Built by St Ninian around 397, the site of the Candida Casa, or White/Shining House, is now home to the parish church. The area of Whithorn is rich in history and is also home to a medieval priory and an archaeological site. The distinctive shape of Whithorn, with its spacious central area and narrow entrance-ways of elegant Georgian houses, displays its medieval heritage. The Machars and Rhins of Galloway are also home to spectacular gardens, a result of the Gulf Stream and mild climate. Logan Botanic Gardens, the Aldouran Wetland and the spectacular gardens of Castle Kennedy are all a must see. To the north of the Machars are the Galloway Hills, offering walking to all levels as well as world class mountain biking. Golf, fishing and wildlife spotting are well catered for and the sandy beaches of Monrieth, Garlieston, and along the whole of Luce Bay will delight any visitor.

The lodge is perfectly equipped with everything you could need. The addition of board games and the wood burning stove made for a lovely cosy relaxed weekend away.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. The wood burner looked like it would lovely in vold winter months. We had mild but very VERY wet weather so was grateful of the central heating to dry endlessly soggy clothes! A very kind welcome gift of wine and shortbread was a treat too - thank you!

Bottle of wine and biscuits upon welcome was a nice little touch. Beds were so comfortable I didn’t want to get up one morning. Shower excellent and again didn’t want to get out. Dogs loved it here, again everything they needed was catered for including leads, towels, treats, bags and a new ball. I would recommend Eden Lodge to any potential future guests and will come back in the future. Thank you for helping to make our staycation fantastic. X
