There is direct access from the garden to the beach and sea, 4 metres away.. Shore Cottage sits right on the beach of Wigtown Bay with stunning coastal views and sunsets. Built in 1860, this ex-quarryman’s cottage forms part of a terrace, with a comfortable cosy interior and car parking. The cottage opens directly to the tidal beach in a nature reserve where you can look out for the colony of Oystercatchers and the many estuary birds. Close by is Carsluith Castle with smokehouse bistro, and Creetown smokehouse and fresh local fish shop with cafe. The nearby market town of Newton Stewart offers many excellent shops, a cinema and places to eat. Near to the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park, the cottage is ideally placed to explore the beauty of south west Scotland. Perfect for walkers, golfers and cyclists, with Glentrool Forest Park, Kirroughtree and the 7Stanes mountain bike trails nearby, as well as a great choice of golf courses. There is an abundance of fishing, bird watching, beautiful and exotic gardens, many rocky coves, sandy beaches and quaint villages to explore along the Machars and Rhins of Galloway.

We had a fabulous two weeks at Shore Cottage it did not disappoint . Having lived in that area some years ago it was a great base to visit friends and visit places we love. We spent time relaxing in the garden listening to the gentle sounds of the changing tides and walking the dogs along the beach. We had one small issue that was swiftly dealt with by both Peter and Kate. Kate was extremely helpful and informative. Found the stairs very steep but we both coped well considering we are approaching 80. Having the bathroom downstairs was a bonus especially for my husband with his mobility issues. It would have been nice had the twin beds been in the front bedroom or perhaps a king sized that converts to twin beds. The kitchen was well equipped for its compact size . A wonderful magical spot we are booked in and will be returning next year. The sunsets were magnificent as was the sparkling light on the water of the Cree Estuary magical. Looking forward to our return. And would highly recommend to friends .

What a lovely cottage, in an unbeatable location. We had wanted to be by the sea and couldn’t have much closer. Local host very friendly and helpful.Well equipped and just what needed, as documented water pressure affects the shower, but you can live with that to be looking out at that view.Very clean and some welcome tea/ coffee/ milk and biscuits was a nice touch. So peaceful a real switch off holiday, in a great area

Lovely cottage , secluded location on the edge of a little beach. Great base for walking and exploring the area. Recommended for a quiet relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle.
