It's well-placed for exploring East Lothian's attractions, including golf and an air museum. While the property is spacious and tastefully decorated, guests suggest improvements in kitchen equipment and utensils for larger groups. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and maintenance, but the comfortable furnishings and responsive owner contribute to a pleasant stay.

Guests have raised concerns about cleanliness, mentioning a dirty kitchen, full hoover, and overall tidiness. These issues suggest a need for better cleaning practices.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local attractions, ease of parking, and accessibility to Edinburgh, making it ideal for both relaxation and exploration.

The property is generally found to be comfortable, with cosy beds and sofas. However, some guests noted issues with condensation due to single glazing and a preference for larger beds.

Facilities are adequate but require attention, particularly in the kitchen, where guests noted a lack of utensils and outdated appliances. Maintenance issues like electrics and garden upkeep were also mentioned.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The kitchen needs more than four knives, four forks , spoons, plates etc. We were endlessly having to wash up when there was a rather superfluous dishwasher. The information pages about our stay in the house were a bit out of date. It’s a lovely property though and, when we had a problem with working the heating, the owner was very quick to respond. We would go again.

This is a listed historic house with single glazing throughout so the condensation was a bit problematic. It is a spacious apartment and nicely decorated. In an ideal world king size beds would be preferable to standard double. The kitchen was fairly well equipped, although for an apartment that could potentially sleep six, just four knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons is not adequate and similarly just four mugs, glasses, plates and bowls is not adequate. Just one small cafetière and no teapot. The surrounding area is very nice and great for walking, cycling and birdwatching and not far away from Edinburgh so a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia was a highlight. The owners do seem very efficient and when we had a small problem with the toilet they arranged for it to be fixed very promptly.

A charming 19th c cottage handily placed for road and rail travel in East Lothian. Some nice original features, and not overly modernised. Locals very friendly. Nearby air museum a must see (get onboard Concorde !) and East Lothian is spoiled for golf.
