This cottage is ideally located for so many activities nearby. There's an alpine coaster 5 minutes down the road and it's less than half an hour by car to Edinburgh, with excellent bus links. The house itself was great for the six of is, a mix of adults, teens and younger ones. It's definitely not one you can sneak around in though, it's very warm and comfortable but it is a squeaky ole place. It's the first time we brought our dog on holiday with us (he's not a great cat traveller) and as a novice owner/traveller, I hadn't realised he wouldn't be allowed in most of the house (carpeted and soft furnishings) or allowed to be in the house on his own - I also don't know if that's an industry wide standard either, I'm new to dog holiday . There is a dedicated decent sized space for dogs to be in but it's not the reason we brought him so, had I known, we'd look for somewhere that he could be around us more of the time. Having said that, for the couple of days that we were gone for longer periods the owner was happy for us to arrange a house sitter. There is a neat little mezzanine floor which is a TV room that the little ones enjoyed, especially watching the fauna flutter and scamper among the surrounding flora. All rooms were generally big enough for their occupants! The kitchen facilities were well stocked and it wasn't difficult to cook a roast dinner there. The road leading up to the cottage is short but was quite potholed. We left our kids DVDs there too (Kronks New Groove, Rango, Coralline, and Kung Fu Panda 1-3) so if you do decide to stay there, enjoy them on behalf of us!!
