Wonderful family holiday with each of us having to pull ourselves away reluctantly on departure day.We booked the cottage to celebrate my 40th birthday, we wanted somewhere we'd fall in love with and have long-lasting memories of a special family time. The cottage is bigger than you expect, the garden is fully enclosed and our little Yorkshire Terrier Max was safe to run off his boundless energy, with us knowing he couldn't get through any gaps to the grazing sheep. We love remote cottages, and although the cottage is near other cottages, a working croft, car park and the start of the path to Sandwood Bay this didn't stop us from feeling away from it all. So quiet and peaceful. The cottage is well equipped, cosy (thanks to underfloor heating) and has lots of space. We spent most of our time in the dining area, on the last night we sat in the lounge with the fire roaring and toasted some bread after a day doing the Oldshoremore circular. We didn't have the TV on once for the whole week; with views of rolling hills, dotted white houses amongst the rugged land, the weather always changing (looking dramatic at times), working sheepdogs playing in the field opposite, buzzards hovering prey, and people walking by on adventures, we had all the entertainment we needed. We only took the car out once on a visit to Durness as we fell in love with the area so much and spent our time on foot exploring straight from the door.We love Sandwoodway, and hope to be back soon.

Excellent location to get away from it all. House was really cosy and en suite toilets were a real treat with trouble free showers. Garden was fully enclosed and our dog loved the freedom to roam a little. Max (shetland pony) in the neighbouring field was best neighbour ever! Will miss that guy! Nearby beaches are in my opinion out of this world. Most of the time had them more or less to ourselves!
