About this property

Drumbeg 1.8 miles. Enjoying a superb waterside setting, Culkein Lodge is an outstanding holiday home close to Drumbeg in the Highlands of Scotland. Perfect for families looking for spacious and well-presented accommodation, Culkein Lodge is a wonderful base from which to explore the wonders of the Highlands. Inside, the living area is bright and airy with light flooding in through the windows helping to create an inviting space. The gorgeous sun room directly overlooks the water’s edge and many happy hours could be spent here reading from the great book collection at the house and taking in the ever-changing views from the window. The sitting room is certainly welcoming with loads of snug seating and an attractive woodburning stove providing a focal point to the room, making it the perfect spot to gather together and enjoy spending quality time with loved ones. The contemporary kitchen is extremely well-equipped with all the facilities you need to create delicious food for your family before sitting down together at the elegant dining table and catching up on all your holiday news. A large feature window offers stunning views across the water and provides something of a talking point as the weather and seasons change dramatically outside the window. The sumptuous bedrooms are elegantly presented and guests can choose from one of two stunning king-size bedrooms, a snug twin or the compact but cosy single (with trundle bed) on the ground-floor. Whichever bedroom you choose you can guarantee waking up somewhere idyllic with wonderful views over the ocean. What better way to wake up than that? You can enjoy divine sun sets (and sun rises!) from the house with the gardens the perfect spot to chill out and take in those all-important views. If you enjoy being at one with nature then you’ve certainly come to the right place with deer, otters and seals regularly spotted nearby as well as some unusual birds so make sure you have your binoculars to hand. For foodies there is one of the finest seafood restaurants in Scotland a short drive away at Kylesku and from here you can hop a boat to see the famous Eas a Chual Aluinn waterfalls, or why not get a boat over to Handa Island Bird Reserve? A short drive away is Lochinver a thriving port town with a good selection of shops where you can pick up gifts to take home or venture a little further to Ullapool which is well worth a visit. Offering stunningly presented and spacious accommodation, Culkein Lodge promises a holiday to remember.

The pretty village of Drumbeg is located about half way along the Lochinver to Kylesku B869 coast road, an area of dramatic natural beauty and wonderful sea views. The village itself boasts some local services including a village shop and a hotel with lively pub and restaurant. Drumbeg village can be approached from two directions either via the coastal road leading up from Lochinver or by the very pretty and winding road branching off from the A89. In addition to the spectacular coastline the area has magnificent mountains, fantastic wildlife and numerous fishing lochs which provide wild brown trout fly fishing. Permits can be obtained locally from the hotel for as little as £5 per day. The much larger village of Lochinver is 14 miles away and has a grocery shop, restaurants and hotels. A superb touring base.
