Set in the heart of Fort Augustus and looking out over the locks of the Caledonian Canal, these beautifully presented holiday apartments make the perfect base for enjoying the village amenities and also for exploring this lovely part of the Highlands. You can sit in the comfort of your living room and watch boats travel through the canal. This pretty village is situated at the southern end of Loch Ness and is close to the Great Glen Way. Lots to see and do for all ages – monster spotting on Loch Ness, boat trips, mountain biking, canoeing, hill walking to name but a few. Take a trip to Fort William, the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’, or Inverness, the vibrant Highland Capital. A trip to the beautiful Isle of Skye with the dramatic scenery of the west coast should not be missed. Or just relax and watch the ever changing views over the village. Overall, the LOCKSIDE Lower Flat was lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay. Even on a rainy day, there was plenty to enjoy, especially sitting comfortably in the living room watching the boats come through the lock — a lovely and relaxing way to spend some time.The only downside for us was the size of the fridge, which is about half the size of a standard under-counter fridge. As I had done our weekly grocery shop in Fort William on the way to the cottage, I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t enough space for all the fresh vegetables we had bought.That said, this was only a minor issue and didn’t spoil what was otherwise a very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Fort Augustus. The apartment is lovely. I would recommend, if you don't need ground floor, to look at Lock View as we ended up with a family with two small children above us (we also have a small child so tried to be understanding) but it was like having a herd of elephants running back and forth if they were up.My only niggles would be that the sofas are not comfortable. If you dont plan on being there much it wont matter. Also the bathroom really let's the place down, it really needs updating and is so so small!The bunk beds I would not recommend for older kiddos. My three year old was fine but it really sounded unstable when my eleven year old tried to get on so we put the mattress on the floor for him instead.
