Fleet Cottage in Portree is praised for its stunning loch views and proximity to local amenities, offering a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, the scenic location, and the cottage's charm as a base for exploring Skye. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.
The cottage is generally described as clean and fresh upon arrival, with only a few mentions of minor dampness which is attributed to the property's age and the local weather.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful views over the loch, proximity to Portree, and as a tranquil retreat from busy streets, making it an ideal base for exploring the island.
Guests find the cottage warm and cosy, with a spacious upstairs lounge and a comfortable en suite. However, some guests mention dated heating and the need for better temperature control.
While the cottage is well-equipped and appreciated for its homely touches, there are several comments about maintenance needs, such as updating the heating system, uneven parking, and kitchen equipment.
There is a mention of a welcome bottle of wine, which is a nice touch, but as gifts are not consistently referenced across reviews, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gestures are appreciated but not guaranteed.

A glorious location, looking right out over the loch and within easy reach of Portree cafes and restaurants. We loved spotting the birds and taking in the beautiful light and scenery. A very nice cottage, though it does need a little work in a few places, including the wall around the fireplace. However this would not put us off returning, and we very much hope to come back.

Well equipped accommodation in a great location, just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Portree and wonderful views across the loch. The dated storage heating requires updating. The LCD control on the large heater in the living was not visible, so it was impossible to control it. Both bathrooms are heated by an electric radiator/towel rail, both of which have only 2 settings, on or off! It would be more comfortable (and economical) to be able to regulate them. The parking space requires attention, a large amount of the gravel that is supposed to be in the parking space has migrated onto the road, leaving the parking space very uneven and tricky to park on.

We loved Fleet Cottage and had a wonderful week here. The location is fantastic, close to local amenities and the view over the loch is stunning. Was a great base to explore the whole of Skye. We would return. The upstairs lounge makes the most of the views and the space is bigger than the photos suggested. Great en suite too to the double bedroom. We recommend. It was warm and cosy too. The review saying about damp, there's a couple of small patches but the age of the cottage and the weather it's to be expected. It smelt so clean when we arrived and was perfect for us.
