Welcome to Mermaid View, a beautiful bungalow with a lovely family living/dining room and a separate modern, well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare hearty breakfasts before venturing out for the day. There are three double bedrooms, and outside is a patio area and decking which gives great views. The garden is fully enclosed, so you can allow your dog to run around.
Mermaid View is situated in the seaside town of Balintore, less than a ½-mile walk from the beautiful sandy beaches and the enclosed stone harbour, which also is a great place to take your dog. Whilst walking around the town you will understand why the owners of Mermaid View chose that name!
Balintore and its neighbouring village of Shandwick are great for those that enjoy windsurfing, surfing, or kite surfing, you will find an abundance of stunning beaches along the coastline. There are lots of places to visit and activities for all the family, both indoor and outdoor. Wildlife boat trips are available for all the family from Cromarty, which is 9 miles from Balintore, there are also golf courses and activity centres. A visit to Fort George Castle just outside Inverness is one of the mightiest artillery fortifications in Britain after the battle at Culloden in 1746, open to visitors it is well worth a visit if you have inclement weather.
A visit to Shandwick is also very interesting and worth visiting with all the family - you can see the Pictish stone dating back from 800AD, now protected by glass case, with exceptional markings and documentation. There are lots of restaurants in and around the village of Balintore within walking distance, then return back to Mermaid View to enjoy the end of the evening and plan for the next day’s adventures. One thing guaranteed, a week is not long enough to do everything in and around Balintore, so you will also have to plan your return visit to Mermaid View...

Beautiful location to get away we really enjoyed it. Nice spacious accommodation and great views from the sofa. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was good. The garden could be more loved out the back and the front garden needs a bench to enjoy the views.We had a great weeks stay exploring the Highlands.

House is good and a great location but garden is not maintained and is unsightly (weeds and grass not tended too, broken furniture, litter (including disposable bbq used by previous guests) and dangerous (wood rotten, shards of glass, dog dirt)); one set of linen, towels and dishcloth for two week stay (asked for some new towels and dishcloth after one week was told to leave on doorstep but weren't replaced with no update so we had to use dirty, wet towels for another day, when ultimately they were replaced after I had to chase); rubbish from previous guests under the bed; on arrival, the dishwasher had not been unloaded and the bins were full; freezer was so frozen that it couldn't be opened properly; and finally, hosts would appear to work and so there can be quite a delay in response times. This would all be ok at mates rates but we paid a lot to use the house and felt really let down.
