This beautifully appointed single storey cottage with its delightful sea and countryside views is over 100 years old and has lovely feature stone walls reflecting its history. As its name suggests, Gardener’s Cottage was the former residence of the gardener of Ardmillan Castle located just over a couple of miles from Girvan in Ayrhsire. 400 years ago the castle was described thus, “The Castle of Ardmillan looked like a palace with its deep cut ditch, its large courtyard, its capacities for siege-standing, its early pears and apples.” Originally a fishing port, Girvan is now a small seaside resort and during the summer it is possible to sail around local landmarks on the lovely paddle steamer, the Waverley.
While the garden is totally enclosed, there is a pond and hens in the vicinity of the property.

Had a great few days at the Gardeners cottage. The owner was super friendly an accommodating, the large bowl of fresh eggs being a well enjoyed bonus gift!Travelled as a family of 4 adults, 1 baby, 1 giant Schnauzer and a bloodhound. The garden was dog friendly and enclosed as advertised and the location is just accross the road from a beach.Ayrshire itself is worth a visit if you like the outdoors.
