Guests say

The Garden Cottage in Kidwelly receives high praise for its idyllic location, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the secure outdoor space for dogs, the warm welcome from the owners, and the thoughtful touches such as wine and chocolates. The steep staircase is noted, but the charm and views are considered worth it. The property's historic setting and proximity to beaches and parks make it a favoured retreat for nature lovers and their pets.

Reviews consistently mention the cottage being very clean upon arrival, with only one mention of a musty smell which was resolved by the guest. The high standard of cleanliness contributes to the overall positive experience.

The location is frequently described as peaceful, tranquil, and close to nature, with easy access to beaches and parks. The historic estate setting is a unique feature that guests enjoy. The remote aspect is appreciated for its quietness, though it may be a bit far from some amenities.

The cottage is generally found to be comfortable, with a secure garden for dogs and cosy interiors. However, several guests mention the steep staircase and one review notes uncomfortable mattresses, which slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen, good Wi-Fi, and a powerful shower. Some guests suggest minor improvements such as better baking trays and a lock on the bathroom door. The steep stairs are noted as a potential issue for some.

Guests frequently mention the thoughtful gestures of the hosts, including welcome gifts such as wine and chocolates. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The Garden Cottage is traditional and quirky, being ideal for couples or a small family to retreat here for a peaceful getaway. On the ground floor, you can find the neat kitchen, home to the essential appliances you need to cook up some delicious meals from breakfast through to dinner. Head into the dining room and gather around the table to serve up the evening’s menu or enjoy a board game with a little bit of healthy competitiveness! This delightful space is benefited by a woodburning stove, perfect for warming you on a chillier evening.

Also on this floor, you will come to the bedrooms, with the master bedroom hosting a king-size bed and continuing the quaint cottage theme with carefully chosen pieces of furniture and simple décor. The second room is a lovely bunk room which can sleep two adults, a good use of the space, and allowing more friends and family to join you on your Pembrokeshire adventure. The location is great for getting to places, and being away from street lights, means that on a clear night, you get a great view of the stars.Edwin the owner, is very helpful and friendly, and not intrusive. The cottage is well maintained. The layout is a bit unusual, but not in a bad way. The closest I can come to a negative, is the steepness of the stairs, but this really was not a problem. There was a good selection of books and games, and leaflets with ideas of things to do in Wales. All in all, Garden Cottage is a fantastic find, and I am so happy to have found it. One tip, is work out the coordinates for the start of the drive, and put them in your sat nav. Next time we holiday in the Kidwelly area, we will diffinately be booking Garden cottage
