This wonderful, detached property is a stunning example of a Welsh long barn and sits within the Hafod Forestry Commission Estate, which occupies about 500 acres of the Ystwyth Valley. The estate was designed in the late 18th century and although the original mansion is gone, the historic walks network has been restored to allow you to enjoy this wonderful landscape.
The owners have lovingly restored this property and created something truly luxurious. It’s all on one level and so much detail has gone into it, from the fixtures and fittings to the lighting and soft furnishings. The large open plan living, dining and kitchen area leads directly to the large garden via bi-fold doors, out onto the decked terrace with a firepit and barbecue. The master bedroom has a handmade feature kingsize bed and a huge en-suite bathroom with double ended free standing bath, twin basins and a walk-in wetroom with special light effect to tell you when the water is warm! There are two further bedrooms, each with their own special lighting effects, the twin has a ‘cosmic’ ceiling and the kingsize bedroom has romantic, twinkly drapes around the bed. A ‘Jack and Jill’ family bathroom can be accessed from the kingsize bedroom or from the hallway and has an eye catching copper sink set within an oak barrel. There is also an additional cloakroom with toilet. Access to the property is via an unmade stone road which is unlit.
The views are amazing and you’ll probably while away many an hour watching the variety of visiting birds and often see red kites and buzzards circling overhead. From the doorstep of the barn, the estate can be explored on foot (there are five way-marked walks of varying length and difficulty), where there are streams, waterfalls and rustic bridges to discover. It provides an excellent base for exploring and taking part in activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding and walking, or just relaxing in a ‘get away from it all’ location.
Nearby attractions include Devils Bridge, first built by monks in the 11th century and from where you can take the Vale of Rheidol steam train that meanders through the valley to the seaside town of Aberystwyth, and the Silver Mountain Experience, an 18th-century silver-rich lead mine. A 30-minute drive will bring you to the attractive Ceredigion coastline with an array of beaches and coastal towns and villages. The Pendre Longbarn is a unique property in an idyllic spot so come and see for yourself! Beach 15 miles. Pub/restaurant is 4 miles away. Supermarkets are in Aberystwyth 12 miles away. Some guests like to pre order groceries to be delivered.

Large house in a stunning location. Comfortable beds. Plenty of comfortable seating. Nice light effect in master bathroom. Lovely outdoor area with fire pit and hot tub. Fantastic views and walks from the door. Light effect drapes in 2nd double not working hot tub fairy lights not working. No soap in main bathroom towels too small. Head towel size. Strong fume smell coming from cloakroom loo. Hot tub had to be filled it took 6hrs to fill and heat but does stay hot with lid on. There was no chlorine in the chlorine despenser that floats in the tub and the water stagnated after 2 uses. Given that we where there for 3 nights it wasn't practical to keep emptying and refilling it. This was a massive downside for us.at nearly £900 for 3 nights in October half term i expected excellence in all areas. That said we did enjoy our stay and the walks were incredible. The Hafod arms dose excellent food as well.

Super property with some excellent walking right from the door. The property was clean and had pretty much everything we needed, bit short on wine glasses only two between 4 adults, and pint glasses bit thin on the ground but it’s not a deal breaker. The location is stunning with great autumn colours and walks when we visited. Suited our two families with 3 children in tow aged 10,8 and 1. Bear in mind you are rural and it’s at least an hour round trip to supermarket, we managed to get our food delivery from a supermarket right to the door so again not a big issue. Great walk at devils bridge, not for the faint hearted, and great walk to the top of the hill at the Arch both 10 mins away roughly. Can recommend eating at the hard hotel after the devils bridge waterfall walk, good food and good prices for the plate size. All in all you really don’t need to leave the estate just hunker down and walk from the door if that’s your thing, if you like to pop to the shops it might not be for you. All of our party loved the house and area and are planning on returning to walk the parts we missed.

If you want peace and quite, a get away from all of life's busy distractions, traffic noise, etc., this is the place. It is quite remote, you definitely need your own transport. If you love walking, waterfalls and wildlife, the Pendre Longbarn definitely ticks all the boxes. The barn itself is something very special. So many unique touches. A lot of thought has been put into its design and features. First time using a wood fired hot tub. Lovely to have clean fresh water, no chemicals. We filled it ourselves, and once heated initially it kept its heat quite well, just requiring small fires to bring the temperature back up. Although our week didn't have the best weather, we all still enjoyed our holiday break.
