About this property

Tucked away in the lovely village of Glyn Ceiriog, Denbighshire discover this historical and fantastically-renovated former chapel, Chapel House. Benefitting from pet-friendly accommodation and a tranquil position on the outskirts of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chapel House welcomes eight guests to enjoy the ultimate escape in North Wales. Cross the threshold into your new abode to be impressed by the open-plan living space, a social hub where you and your loved ones can cook delicious meals, curl up in front of the woodburning stove or plan your itinerary as day rolls into night. If you prefer to bask in your surroundings a little longer, step out onto your very own private outside area to delight in an alfresco mealtime, popping corks until the sun sets in the distance and pondering over your favourite memories so far. Escape to the first floor where a mezzanine-style family bedroom awaits with an en-suite bathroom, or head to the lower-ground-floor to take advantage of a charming family room with a double and bunk beds, again with its own handy en-suite facilities. If you can tear yourself away, head into the centre of Glyn Ceiriog where you’ll find a Post Office within the village shop and delightful pub, perfect for stocking up on the essentials or treating your loved ones to some hearty fare on the days you don’t feel like cooking! Llangollen town is also a delightful area, brimming with independent shops and cafés, perfect for easing a self-catered stay. Beauty spots to discover in the area include the National Trust property of Chirk Castle and the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, offering breath-taking, rural views, whilst visitors can also enjoy a horse-drawn barge trip along the canal (in season), aboard the steam train for trips up the valley in Corwen, or don your walking boots for a hike up Dinas Bran/ Crow Castle. Also, within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB, enjoy Plas Newydd Historic House and Gardens Llangollen, where the ‘ladies of Llangollen’ lived, Llangollen Museum and Llangollen Bridge, which offers imposing views over the River Dee before embarking on a picturesque journey through the Welsh countryside via the Llangollen Railway. Well-positioned to spend the day in the roman city of Chester, where you’ll find Chester Cathedral, Chester Racecourse and the Eastgate Clock, there is plenty to keep you and your loved ones occupied, along with visits to nearby Wrexham, home to Erddig Hall and Gardens, a lovely National Trust property. Escape to North Wales, with Chapel House as your memorable base.

The heart of the scenic Ceiriog Valley in Wrexham County, North Wales, is Glyn Ceiriog. There are many ways to enjoy the great outdoors in this picturesque valley, which Lloyd George once referred to as "a little piece of heaven on earth," including hiking, horseback riding, and cycling. Glyn Ceiriog, once the hub of the valley's slate mining industry, is three miles south of Llangollen and provides a good selection of neighbourhood amenities, including two village pubs, a Post Office with a cafe and tourist information, a well-stocked village store, and a community sports centre with a variety of activities like bicycle rental, tennis, indoor bowling, and table tennis. Numerous attractions are found close by, including the majestic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which is a World Heritage Site and well worth a visit. Why not travel to the well-known town of Llangollen, home to the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, which is situated alongside the River Dee, which is dotted with boulders? The town has a beautiful mountain background and offers a nice selection of taverns and restaurants in addition to numerous unique stores. Take a thrilling climb up to Castell Dinas Brân, high above the town, to take in the breath-taking panorama, or explore the Dee Valley by steam train or canal boat! Chirk Castle and Erddig, both owned by the National Trust, are accessible by automobile, and a day's drive will take you to six of Wales' Seven Wonders. Visit the Old Hill Fort at Oswestry, go for a stroll along the crest of the Clwydian Hills on Offa's Dyke Path, or use the national rail system to travel to the Roman city of Chester, Shrewsbury, and other places. All year long, Glyn Ceiriog is a great home base for exploring this stunning area.
