Guests say

Pen-y-Craig cottage in North Wales offers a tranquil village setting with easy access to local amenities and scenic walks. Guests appreciate the warm, homely atmosphere and modern conveniences, despite some noting issues with maintenance and comfort. The property's proximity to a welcoming pub and the beauty of the surrounding area are frequently mentioned highlights.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage spotless, while others reported dust and unclean kitchenware. The inconsistency leads to a slightly above-average score.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its quietness, proximity to a local pub, and great walking routes. The scenic village setting contributes to a high score in this category.

Guests are divided on comfort; some find the beds comfortable and the cottage homely, while others criticise the lounge seating and suggest improvements. The mixed feedback results in a moderate score.

Facilities and maintenance receive average remarks. Positive comments about bathroom quality and hot water are offset by reports of broken appliances, insufficient kitchen equipment, and maintenance issues.

While some guests mention a lack of welcome gifts such as milk or bread, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtfulness in the form of gifts to accurately score this category.

This time we were impressd with the level of cleanliness, which hasn't always been the case, and were delighted with the fabulous welcome pack, which has not been the norm either. There were renovations still being carried out at the chapel to the rear, and the garden was full of builders materials and two wheelbarrows, plus a flow of builders over the right of way. However we knew this was happening from our last visit in November, but understand this will be a temporary thing. Lounge seating still uncomfortable. Overall though, the situation is wonderful and the cottage is lovely and warm. We love it.

And it snowed, how beautiful. Thank you.

It's very warm and cosy, apart from the lounge seating. We, and many previous guests, have mentioned the chairs are VERY uncomfortable. Two 2-seater cottage couches can be picked up cheaply and readily. My 300 year old cottage has a few small rooms and I have never had any problems in picking up small settees from auction or charity shops. I would beg the owners to redress this problem. Also, this time, the chapel attached to the rear of the cottage was being converted, and the building work could be heard inside the cottage. There is a right of way across the small cottage garden, and the builders and scaffolders used it. Having said that, hopefully it will all be completed before our next visit. There is a fabulous local pub, which we make use of, and walks straight from the door.
