Abersoch sits on the Llyn Peninsula, a part of Wales known for its breathtaking scenery and a variety of hiking trails. The hamlet, nestled between two picturesque bays, is a renowned sailing destination in North Wales, hosting major regattas every summer. In terms of beaches in the vicinity, Abersoch Main Beach is the most popular. In addition to Porth Ceriad, with its high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer, the Llyn Peninsula has a wide variety of beaches to choose from ("Whistling Sands").
National Trust land covers most of the coastline, and there are numerous undeveloped beaches, sandy coves, cliffs, and wildlife refuges like Bardsey Island to be discovered.
