This pet-friendly dwelling has a characterful interior with a quirky fireplace on the landing and painted stone walls, ideal for a couple seeking a romantic getaway with their dog. On arrival, leave your vehicle in an off-road parking space before entering the sitting room, which features a sofa and a wall-mounted Smart TV to relax. The kitchen/diner is adjacent and is a compact but efficient space with an electric oven and hob, fridge with an ice box and a breakfast bar to tuck-into snacks and meals. From the foot of the door, you will find The Towpath Inn, a village pub with a beer garden, The Corn Exchange to sample delicious wine and a convenience store for all your essentials. The Cwtch is a superb base for history buffs with Big Pit National Coal Museum, Tretower Court and Castle and Clydach Gorge; all with a fascinating insight into the past. Also within easy reach is Brecon Beacons National Park; here you can ramble the scenic landscape, hike up hills and stop off at quiet reservoirs for a picnic. Venture to the market town of Abergavenny, home to the ruins of Abergavenny Museum, beautiful gardens for calming walk and a cluster of pubs for a refreshing pint. For a lovely dwelling in Mid Wales, whisk your other half to The Cwtch.

The Usk River offers outstanding salmon and trout fishing, and the National Park, which spans an area of around 520 square miles, is surrounded by beautiful landscape. The area surrounding Gilwern is also fantastic for walking, cycling, and bird viewing. Nestled between the "seven hills," the ancient market town of Abergavenny, known as the "Gateway to Wales," offers something for everyone with its numerous indoor and outdoor markets, spectacular castle, and museums. A few miles away, the lovely town of Crickhowell is a must-see for all visitors. The magnificent peak known as Sugarloaf offers wonderful walks for all abilities as well as its own winery. Cottage spotless and outstanding shower would highly recommend already rebooking done for September.Lori the contact who runs the cottage is extremely helpful person who we met on arrival nothing was to much trouble. One of the best properties we have been on holidays.

We lost all of our money even though we had thought that our insurance might cover us but it did not.

  • Douglas

Well equipped and extras appreciated, e.g. Welsh cakes, tea bags, milk on arrival etc. Well situated for exploring the Brecon Beacons with the added advantage of a canal running through the town for towpath walks. One maintenance issue reported to Lori which was fixed immediately.
