One of six stone buildings in a quiet countryside setting, this three-bedroom cottage has original features, contemporary styling and all the essentials of a home from home. Inside, you’ll find an open-plan living room with exposed structural beams and wood flooring. To one side, the kitchen has everything you’ll need for a fuss-free stay – a shared laundry room is on-site too – and there’s a rustic-style dining suite where you can enjoy good food and conversation together. A door leads to a hallway, from which there’s a modern family bathroom and two pretty bedrooms, one with a double and the other with a single bed. The third, gallery-style bedroom is reached via stairs from the lounge – with limited headroom, this is suitable for children only. To the front of the property, the patio has a lovely outdoor seating area and complementary planting, while a shared garden with a lawn, BBQ area and play equipment allows for food and fun alfresco. A large public recreation area just across the road is good for ball games and dog walks.

Less than 2 miles away, the county town of Haverfordwest is dominated by the Western Cleddau River and the ancient castle that towers above it. Around 5 miles east of your holiday home, the vast sands of Broad Haven and Little Haven sit at the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. A paradise for children, there are rock pools below the cliffs; hire water sports equipment to try surfing or paddleboarding, or follow the coast path for a gentle stroll. Britain’s smallest city St Davids (17 miles) is an ancient site of pilgrimage – enjoy a wander then en route home stop at Solva (13 miles), where you’ll find a sheltered harbour and bustling high street full of cafes, craft shops and galleries.
