Haven's Rest is a very nice holiday cottage. There is very little garden and no views from anywhere, but it is well equipped and comfortable. This includes the beds. There is a lot of room in the lounge and dining room and a small sun room (filled with a huge chest only containing 4 books and one jigsaw!)Parking is within gates. There is also table tennis in the garage with equipment. Places we have been to before that had a table did not have any usable balls. We used the pizza oven in the garden, the pizzas tasted wonderful. We left the logs we bought and didn't use.My bedroom door did not shut properly. Holiday cottages never have curtains that keep out the light ( the security light from the cottage opposite beams straight into the front window). Luckily I always take blackout material. The oven needed a good clean. Beware, it is a bit out of the village up quite a steep road. But you need wheels to get there anyway. This is the only accommodation I have ever been to (over many years) where there was no welcome basket/hamper and not any milk in the fridge. There was no water when we arrived (burst main) but that was no-one's fault. Luckily we had some bottled water with us.Just a litre container of milk and a package of Welsh cakes would have been very welcome and welcoming. They wouldn't cost much. There were almost no books (4!) Most places have a shelf full or even a full size bookcase. Also only one jigsaw. Were there a couple of packs of cards? Don't think so but we take our own as those supplied are often missing one or two.

When we arrived and opened the fridge it stank of fish. Someone had put a tub of Bicarbonate of Soda in it to absorb the smell which hadn't worked. We had to cover/seal everything we put in the fridge so that our food didn't absorb the smell of fish. The freezer was as bad. We only wanted to use it to make ice cubes but didn't as we didn't want fishy tasting ice cubes. There was no apology or explanation for this which I think is poor given the price we paid for the house. This is why I have given it a cleanliness rating of bad. The rest of the house was nice and clean.
