About this property

Nestled on the outskirts of the charming coastal town of Newport in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is Delfryn. This attractive, stone-fronted cottage was originally a Woollen Mill, built circa 1880 and was converted into a domestic dwelling in 1920 and is located near Newport Castle. It benefits form a welcoming interior adorned with original, character features including, Victorian feature fireplaces; exposed, stone feature walls and original doors and windows. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home where you can unwind in the sitting room, warm your feet by the gentle crackle of the woodburning stove and flick on the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group steps into the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare dinner. Dine as a family in the dining room before heading outside and up the stone steps to your own garden with a view, where you can indulge in evening drinks while admiring the vista towards Newport Sands and the sea. When the sun disappears behind the horizon, head back inside to the first floor where you can wash off the day in the shower room before retiring to either the double, twin or single bedrooms. When morning calls, venture on a brief 2 minute walk into the heart of Newport where you can enjoy brunch at Blas at Fronlas or Tides Kitchen and Wine Bar before whiling away the day upon the golden sands of Newport Beach or take a leisurely walk in the sea air and along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with its breath-taking views across the north Pembrokeshire coastline. Or for the more adventurous, just turn right out of Delfryn's front door and walk straight up Mill Lane onto the Preseli Hills and Caringli Mountain, which sits tantalisingly above your holiday base. Take a short drive out of the town where the history buffs of the group will enjoy a visit to the reconstructed Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and the picture postcard 5,500 year old Neolithic Burial Chamber at Pentre Ifan. Head further north to the market town of Cardigan where you can visit Cardigan Castle - the birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod in 1176. Alternatively, the wildlife lovers can enjoy all that nature has to offer at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran with views across the wetlands and take to the open water on a boat for a chance to spot the dolphins that reside in Cardigan Bay.
