These two welcoming cottages sit in their own private grounds and benefit from access to a privately owned stretch of shoreline, shared with the owners' small, laidback boatyard. The properties are ideal for friends and family seeking a peaceful base to enjoy outdoor adventures and easy access to Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. A pathway runs through the boatyard to a slipway and slate beach, ideal for paddling, and water sports when the tide eases. The foreshore is mostly slate, revealing sand as the tide ebbs. The setting offers expansive views of the Dyfi estuary, and nearby is the pretty harbour village of Aberdyfi (3.5 miles), with pastel-coloured cottages, sandy beaches, independent shops, and eateries.
The larger of these two attractive two-storey homes is your hub for socialising and relaxing together. The light and bright open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features original arched windows, a large table for meals, comfortable sofas around a wood burner, a TV and a DVD player for entertainment. Cook up a feast in a kitchen with all the necessary appliances. You'll find two shower rooms alongside three bedrooms on the ground floor - one king-size with a four-poster bed and patio doors, a twin room, and a cosy bunk room. Upstairs are two charming double bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom. A few metres from the first building is the smaller yet equally delightful second property, offering privacy from the larger group. This cottage has a homely feel, with plenty of character, including timber beams and original painted stone walls. Downstairs features a conservatory-style entrance hall, a twin room with garden access, a shower room, and a cosy living/kitchen space with a door onto the rear courtyard. Pop a log in the wood burner, relax on the sofa, and make breakfast in the compact kitchen. Upstairs, you'll find a double bedroom. Please note the windows in this bedroom are directly adjacent to the roadside (the road rises up the hill past the first floor). Outside the enclosed surroundings, patches of wildflowers, shrubs, and trees are set against the distinctive backdrop of a slate quarry and an oak-clad hillside. There's an enclosed courtyard with seating accessed via the cottage, a front garden with a lawn and patio with furniture and a BBQ, ideal for dining alfresco. The sheltered rear garden provides a secluded retreat. There is private parking for five cars with additional space at the boatyard. Please note that the boatyard is also home to other accommodation, including three pitches and two houseboats.
Outdoor enthusiasts are in their element and can access the Wales Coast Path at Aberdyfi Beach (3.5 miles) or tackle the challenging hike up Cader Idris (14.5 miles). Dyfi Bike Park (8.5 miles) is perfect for two-wheeled adventures, and for a lazy day, relax on a trip along the historic Talyllyn Railway (7.5 miles).
