Explore the area’s history of coal mining with a visit to The Big Pit, the National Coal Mine of Wales (1 mile), where ex-miners will lead you on a fascinating journey and an underground tour. Alternatively, hop on the Heritage Railway and journey through the industrial landscape of the Blaenavon World.
This lovely cottage, set over two levels, has a welcoming feel, and is decorated with bold splashes of colour for a vibrant energy. There are plenty of historic castles and museums within 20 miles, so take your pick from Raglan Castle or the Winding House Museum. Llandegfedd Lake (10.5 miles) is a must-visit if you want to participate in water sports, including canoeing and paddleboarding (seasonal). The walking trails are available all year.
