What our customers say about their holidays

  • Jo - Verified booking

The Garden House was just as described.

It was perfect, a home away from home. There is everything you need for a few days away. The decor was absolutely gorgeous, it was lovely and clean, and there was a thoughtful little gift was waiting for us. The honesty bar was a nice touch too. We loved the log burner, but only used it once as the accommodation was lovely and warm. If I had any niggles (& they’re not really niggles) it would have been nice if be the kitchen had more storage space, we’d taken all the food for four days and did struggle with the cupboard space and the fridge space. But we managed and I appreciate it’s a holiday home so not the same as your home kitchen. Also we LOVED the hot tub, it was so peaceful and relaxing. It might be an idea given the inclement weather we suffer, to maybe have a covering so you can still use it even if it’s raining heavily. Also, it was quite dark in the corner so maybe another outside light by the hot tub would be nice. Like I say we had the best time. We followed some of the recommendations from the welcome guide. I would highly recommended a trip to Newborough Forest. The walk through the first to the beach and island is simply breathtaking. I would highly recommend The Garden House, and from what I could see all the other accommodation on site looked equally as gorgeous. Thank you for a fabulous stay. Second time renting this cottage.

Well laid out but although there was plenty of hanging room in the wardrobe we found small clothes storage a bit lacking, as only one bedside table/drawer. Should have been enough room for another, or some accessible shelves in the wardrobe. Electric oven was switched off (probably for safety reasons) so we had to ring for support to get it started. Perhaps an extra and clearer instruction needs to be written as we didn't find a clear answer in the leaflet. Also the microwave, which we couldn't use, needs extra info for electronically-challenged users without an electrical engineering degree. The plastic-handled knives and forks are getting old and handles loose to use. Plenty of different-size drinking glasses, but maybe could do with a couple of new cereal dishes, some of those available are too shallow to use without losing some of your cornflakes and milk on the table or floor. Heating works well, just dial up/down the wall thermostat. Sofa was plush, but too soft for us and the seat cushion too long for shorter people. Definitely need to get out walking to straighten the body up. Conclusion: really very good but some minor improvements could be made.

The cottage was small but perfectly adequate for the two of us!

Decorated to a high standard and the garden was beautiful, we really enjoyed sitting out there with a glass of wine in the evening! Only small gripe we had was the ticking in the bedroom (from the thermostat I think) it kept my partner awake for a while on the first night. The cottage is situated a short drive from lots of lovely beaches, coastal walks and restaurants. It's worth pointing out though that the village itself is very small and there are no shops or pubs nearby so you need a car to get around. We actually walked to the nearest pub, The Black Lion, which took us about 45 minutes but it was a lovely warm night and the beer and pizza we had when we got there were worth it! We also met the owners who were lovely and would certainly recommend! All in all we really enjoyed our stay (2 nights) and would have stayed longer if work had permitted. We will definitely be visiting Anglesey again!

On the whole we enjoyed our stay.

This is our third visit to Tyn Towyn and we love the proximity to the beach etc. The welcome pack of milk, coffee, prosecco, welsh cakes is a nice touch. The cottage is small but a perfect size for 2 people. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed as we ate out quite a bit. In comparison to the other properties Bwthyn Haf felt a bit dark (probably because of the small windows especially the lounge). The lounge dining area lacks character and as stated in other review the sofa is not the most comfortable. I am not sure that a sofa bed is the best option as the lounge area is small and with the only bathroom being off the bedroom would make having additional guests tricky. We would return to Tyn Towyn but feel the prices this summer were too high and hope they will be more realistic going forward. The feedback book in the cottage ran out of space in 2019 so does need replacing.

We were very happy with our cottage.

It was beautiful and immaculately clean. Great garden which was very secure for our little dog! So peaceful too. If every Sykes Cottage was like this, it would be fantastic to book with you again. However, when I was there I began to look at cottages for another break. That cottage looked lovely too. But the review was absolutely shocking. It put me off because I wondered why the cottage was still on your pages without a note attached from Sykes reasurring possible future holiday makers.... that things had improved. The cottage was in Snowdonia I think, and was filthy dirty. A new management company had taken over but it just put me right off because I think these cottages should be inspected periodically as the previous holiday maker had also commented on this too! Yuck
