What our customers say about their holidays

On the plus side the cottage is in a great location, itâs clean, warm, comfortable and cosy.
The garden is small but enclosed and safe to let a dog out for the toilet. The street is very narrow and having seen the missing door mirrors, dents and scratches on other cars I chose to pay around £5 a day to park in a car park. Directly behind the back wall of the garden is a pub garden, you canât see it due to the height difference but on busy evenings you can definitely hear it up until around 1am. The cottage is in a central town location so I guess this has to be expected. It didnât worry us as we didnât need the back windows open but a family with children visiting during a hot time of year should be aware. The bed is extremely squeaky and woke us up when we moved in the night. The bedrooms need thermostatic values on the radiators as a comfortable temperature downstairs means the bedrooms are like ovens. We had to ensure the windows were open in the bedrooms and we turned the heating off a good hour before we went to bed otherwise it was too hot to sleep. Both bedrooms have TVâs none of which got a reception. This was a big factor in us choosing the cottage as we like to watch TV in bed at night and have breakfast in bed with the TV which we couldnât do. On day 2 we noticed a bad smell in the kitchen which eventually took over the whole downstairs. We reported it (as weâd done with the other issues above) and although people came out, it couldnât be resolved. We were told that the row of cottages, being old, has an issue with drains and this is why there is a bad smell in the cottage. If this is the case it should be in the description, we were unable to be in the cottage, let alone eat in it, as a result we spent very little time in the cottage. After a week of calling Sykes, we were given a small amount of compensation but it came nowhere near to the disruption and discomfort we had to endure.

Excellent place for exploring North Wales.
The front and rear of the property requires major maintenance, a good clean up, front bench starting to rot. The gated entrance if of no use so there is a potential safety hazard if you have children or pets. The metal gate looks as though it hasn't been maintained for 10 years, itâs rotten and hanging of its hinges There is NO rear garden, just some shingle and no view and you do not get any sun as it's against a cliff. The bathroom door is a sliding door and has clearly been off the runners for a very long time, the floor has a groove worn in it due to it dragging so not privacy in the bathroom. This is a major safety hazard which could lead to the door falling off. In previous reviews this has been highlighted but not addressed, the shower control has a fixing screw missing so the handle comes off in your hand or falls on the bath and this looks a though it has been missing for a long time, just basic maintenance needed. Three out of four lamps in the rear of the property needed replacement, just the basic checks any landlords would hopefully carry out when getting ready for next client. Key lock at the rear of the property is old and dirty, just needs a replacement and you would struggle to use it in the dark, a simple security lamp would suffice. Handle on fridge kept coming off, as reported by previous guests, again just basic maintenance needed. The only 'starter pack' for the wood burning fire was a few firelighters, no wood or matches so bring your own! Nice location, could be a 5-star property but the owner needs to get a grip with maintenance and description.

The cottage was filthy.
I had to do a complete top to bottom clean of the whole property. The armchair is disgustingly dirty. I wouldnât sit on it. There were dog hairs in our bed (we didnât take a dog). The floor trims were unfinished and came away from the floor. There were cobwebs around every light fitting. There was a gap between the bath and the shower which was disgusting. Unfinished paintwork over the whole cottage. Dead flies under the bed. There was a screw on the light pull that couldâve easily hurt our hand when we switched the light on. The floor was so filthy, my crawling son had black hands & feet after the first day. I contacted Sykes on the first day and they offered me a £214 refund from a £720 holiday. Obviously I refused as we had nowhere else to go and this is our yearly family holiday. Conwy is beautiful but this cottage was disgusting and borderline ruined our holiday. Sykes have been awful throughout the whole complaint process too. We are not usually people to complain but we feel weâve been absolutely insulted and robbed.

Very stylish but very homely at the same time - luxury accommodation but practical and useable.
Everything from the knives and forks to the comfortable beds is top quality. The kitchen has everything you would need and more. There are two outside areas. The front overlooks the High Street and at this time of year gets most sun (end April) and the weather was kind enough for us to sit and watch the world go by. The back patio is accessed through bi-fold doors which would open up the whole of the house. A bit more shaded, we didn't use it this time, but can see that in the height of summer it would be a perfect place to sit. The bathroom is spacious, both the bedrooms are large and have big wardrobes and drawers, and the downstairs loo is a bonus. Llewelyn Street is narrow but we were able to park outside every day without problem and its position just off the High Street is perfect for shops, pubs, restaurants. It's also just a couple of minutes walk from the Quay and from there there's a lovely walk along to the marina. Alison is a great owner, helpful and available if you have any questions or need information.

This is a lovely cottage with a wonderful view.
It is well equipped and very comfortable. A lovely big bathroom with separate bath and walk-in shower. Plenty of hot water. We were there in November and it was nicely warm. The listing says a gas fire in the lounge, but its actually an electric fan heater - its a bit noisy, but tbh the central heating is warm enough so we just switched the lights on for effect. All the beds were comfy. The nice big dining kitchen worked well for our group. The only reason I gave a 4 star for facilities is only having one toilet, and its in the main bathroom, is a bit of an issue when there are 5 adults staying. We knew in advance of course. Most of our week there were only 3 of us so we managed fine. We never had a problem parking - thereâs plenty of space along the road, you may have to walk a few yards but it was never an issue for us. We would happily recommend it. Its in a lovely spot and the small local shop has all the essentials.
