What our customers say about their holidays
Lynne - Verified booking
Pleasant cottage in good location for Fowey amenities and car park really close by (Caffa Mill) which was handy as not possible to pull up outside to unload.
It was well equipped. I appreciate it was end of season but everything felt a little tired and cleanliness whilst ok could have been better - you could see finger prints all over kitchen cupboard doors, light switches and cooker controls etc. wall next to dishwasher was splashed with stains, mirror and TV in lounged had large smears on them and we had to clean up the âcrows nestâ before using. Crows nest is a lovely space but in our opinion unsuitable for anyone with any mobility issues, even minor ones. Only used a few times as a bit of an effort to get up there especially if you wanted to take any drinks or food. Internet connection was useless and we had to purchase data and coffee machine didnât work which was a shame as we had bought âpodsâ specially as we use an espresso machine at home. The heating was on full blast when we arrived which was overwhelming. It wasnât easy to sort this due to the way it was set up, we had to turn all radiators we could off (although you couldnât turn off the ones in the kitchen and bathroom) and lower the temperature setting on the boiler. This wasnât helped by not being able to open any downstairs windows (it could have been us but they didnât seem to be able to be opened?) and the window in the main bedroom had a note on asking us not to open as it was broken and awaiting repair, not ideal as we do sleep with an open window at home as we like fresh air to circulate. We didnât need to turn any radiators back on or turn temperature back up during our stay. Lounge was cosy, cushions need replacing as flat and whilst it was ok for the 3 of us you would struggle watching TV if there were 4 people as one of the 4 seats is under the TV. Great selection of games provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay but itâs not somewhere we would consider a return visit to.

We worked out the best way to arrive at the parking space.
Follow the one way system onto Chapel Street, turn left at the Admiral Benbow into Abbey Street, turn left into New Street, then turn left into the cobbled courtyard. There is space marked Mount View for your car. The slipway is narrow, cobbled and tidal and we wouldn't recommend it. There is a spiral staircase to the apartment. Two large steps into the bathroom and two large steps into the inner hall. The kitchen is small, there is a large lounge diner with lovely view of the slipway, bridge and the beaches in the distance. The tidal pool below is very popular with wild swimmers and there are benches for your clothes. There are two large double bedrooms. The apartment is furnished in country house style and there are ample books and games . We had a cosy week there, we enjoyed exploring Penzance, the pubs such as the Admiral Benbow, Turks Head and the Longboat Inn. There are several parks in Penzance, Morrab and Penlee, which has a great cafe and museum. There is a deli called the Cornish Hen and Baker Tom's bakery. A good selection of shops. The bus service to Long Rock, Marazion, or Mousehole, St Ives and Truro is very good. The coastal park walk from Penzance takes you to Long Rock and the Mexico Inn or further on into Marazion.

When I booked the holiday there was a photo of the decking and patio doors which I thought belong to the holiday let.
They actually belong to the flat underneath which was a bit misleading., that photo has now been removed. The listing also says, enclosed garden but it's not fully enclosed as there is no side gate. This is one of the reasons I chose this place as we good leave the doors open so the dogs could come in and out on there own. Obviously we couldn't do this in the end. The holiday let was great very clean and as We couldn't make use of the garden we used the balcony to chill out in. My only issue with the holiday let was the mattress on the superking size bed, way to firm for me and caused me pain in my back/shoulders. A topper might be an answer but I appreciate it's down to personal preference. Phil was very kind, helpful and welcoming. His little goody pack was a nice touch. As a suggestion I would suggest getting a side gate fitted and garden furniture. I know it says a duplex but it might be worth mentioning there's a flat underneath and it's a shared garden. Overall very satisfied with Phils holiday let. Would happily come back and stay again. Kind regards Craig and Kim.

Weâve used Shellseekers twice a year, since it first became a holiday rental.
.. some 5 times now, and have always found it an extremely comfortable, home from home stay. However, on our recent visit last week, we noticed that a few things around the house have begun to feel a little tired and well used. The bedding has been the same since we first started using Shellseekers and a new thicker duvet and pillows in the main bedroom is now needed, along with new linen and a better fitting mattress cover, which would make for a better nights sleep. The bathroom floor has started to expand, causing large cracks that little toes can get caught in and the cutlery is now feeling very tired and has become awkward to use. These are just some observations we made during our last stay. Please donât let your standards slip in this wonderful little cottage.... its level of comfort is why weâve been repeat customers so many times. These things are easily rectifiable, but sadly, if they are not, it will make us and possibly others question whether to book again.

Thankyou for a lovely stay!
The property was completely immaculate, it's laid out very nicely I'd say it's like a spacious one bed flat, with a nice size balcony, but then with another floor above, with an huge extra bedroom with another fully kitted out bathroom! All the facilities worked perfectly, with plenty of cooking and dining equipment. the heating was very powerful and effective! We were very cosy in the freezing temperatures outside! Phil, the owner was very friendly and helpful! He has good knowledge of the local area, and I would be confident that if any issues would have arisen at the time of my stay, he would have been proficient in resolving them. I would recommend the place to anyone, my dog had a great experience too! The location is great, right near a lovely beach with decent shops and a great Indian restaurant within close proximity. I could not criticise or faultour experience at Elin Howlyek in anyway. We're hoping to return in the new year too:)
