  We were VERY pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Whitehorse House in Donegal.

  The location is absolutely stunning, and the house takes full advantage of this - the kitchen and seating areas have massive windows, which look out onto the rolling waves of the sea, two of the four bedrooms also have excellent sea views. However, the house itself would be what we would consider a 'destination' in itself - underfloor heating throughout, large and spacious rooms, an extremely well stocked kitchen (we like to cook, and most times we hire a house, we have to bring our supplies with us - none were needed this time, everything we wanted was provided, and more). Everything supplied was of a very high quality. Very comfortable beds, plenty of extra sheets and towels there if needed, Dyson hair dryers, washer and dryer in the boiler room, lots of very cosy armchairs, a library with loads of books, open fire (which we didn't need, as the heating was on 24/7), all four bedrooms are en-suite, and tons of hot water always available, all four bedrooms also have TVs too. Upstairs there is another massive room, with a huge TV at one end, a table tennis table, snooker table, games console and a desk looking out to sea. The house was spotless when we arrived, and Anne was there to greet us and show us around - very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She also came to see us off on our last day. We were a party of six adults (and two dogs), and we stayed for seven nights, but all of us were disappointed that we had not booked for longer. If you get a chance to to to Whitehorse House - do it!! You won't regret it.

  We are seasoned travellers around Ireland and beyond and prefer to self cater, stay in a comfortable place and relax and explore… the River House by far is one of our most brilliant experiences!

  ! We are impressed by the decor , quality of furnishings, utensils, artwork, furniture, the beds! shower, jacuzzi, outdoor patio area, extensive garden and a glorious open fire .. which was lit religiously every day!! The location allowed us to venture up the Fanad peninsula and over to Rosguil at our leisure and we took in many hikes and extensive beach walks at Ballyhiernan, Ballymackstocker and Rathmullan. The convenience of the Blue Goat Deli (truly excellent coffee from a truly eccentric owner!!), the Lennonside Butchers and the Bridge Bar Restaurant as well as the famous Ranch Food truck is fabulous!! We purchased loads of fresh mussels and scallops and vegetables at the weekly Thursday market directly outside our front door! Our hosts were remarkably responsive, respectful of privacy and allowed an additional night as well as a late checkout. This is a space to savour, you will find comfort, a beautiful ambience and an attention to detail which is extremely rare to find…. I am so glad to have discovered this rarity…. We will be back!!!

  Was a wonderful setting, especially beautiful sunsets.

  We were 4 couples and felt completely at home and comfortable. There was plenty of extra space to spread out, or to find a quiet retreat. Beds were comfortable-no complaints from anyone! The house was neat, clean, well organized. And the views were mesmerizing. Would highly recommend this property to families or groups. Location was fine for us, as we had been to Ireland before and didn’t feel a need to see the typical sites. But it does sit a bit far from some touristy sites. We were exploring, finding national forest sites, walking areas, and views more than seeking castles. A boat trip to the Slieve League cliffs was a great one to book ( seasonal). So the location for us was fine. Yes, we all felt it was an ideal visit for us and would return when opportunity allows.

  Loved every minute of it and everything was provided, great location, great house, I have stayed in many places in carrigart but this house was honestly the best, very private and peaceful area, walking distance to shops, pubs, chapel and play park.

  All the beaches are a few minutes away in the car. The house had everything you needed from stair gates, to irons and fantastic cutlery, pots, toasty maker and the open fire was marvellous, first aid kits, plasters etc, the house has 3 double beds and 2 single beds, plenty of bathrooms and the games room for the children even adults could have great fun from darts, pool table, hula hoops, etc there’s a great washing line and plenty of space around the property and a very big garden, I couldn’t recommend this house enough, it’s was bright and lovely decorated I loved my stay and will definitely be going back. The owner has thought of everything The owner was just at the end of the line if needed.

  River House is a gem, far superior in comfort and elegance than a holiday home usually provides!

  We loved the spacious rooms, the kitchen / lounge area was very well equipped and had everything you need to cook including a great range oven. The food truck opposite the house offers very good quality food if you want a break from cooking. It was a pleasure to sit in the lovely library room with it's great selection of books, enjoyed the quiet and very comfortable ambience. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms were super clean! The courtyard garden and the main gardens are very impressive and a great bonus, if you get good weather!!!!Overall the best holiday house ever. Ramelton is very interesting place and a good base for visiting lots of places.
