What our customers say about their holidays

We have stayed in many Sykes properties and have never been disappointed in fact we have recommended you many times.
Not this time. The bungalow was large, as was the garden, in a quiet residential location close to the pebbly beach. The front porch was basically dirty with soil and crushed shells, the doormat worn and dirty and front door had peeling stained glass effect sticky backed plastic. There was no dustpan and brush or broom to tidy entrance up so we managed with pieces of cardboard. We did not want to see that everyday of our holiday. On entering the hall the carpet was stained, the dining room furniture was grubby with stained chairs covered by inadequate seat pads. The kitchen was superficially clean but on closer inspection the oven ware was dirty, no dessert spoons etc. The three bedrooms were adequate but contained very old, tired furniture, the wardrobes were used for storage for old pictures and boxes and on looking for an extra pillow under the bed we were met by yellowing duvets so stopped the search there. As stated by previous reviewers the cot was placed by electric sockets with no safety covers, some bed side lamps did not work despite changing bulbs. The linen storage cupboard was very unkempt. The garden furniture was poor with only two serviceable chairs, the rest were broken and stored in garage. The fridge and freezer in the garage which we were 'welcome to use' were both black with mould and unfit to store food for human consumption. There was a bag of dirty washing placed on top of freezer. It is our opinion that someone entered the property while we were out as a blue 'wash me' bag appeared in airing cupboard on our return from a day out. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. As the weather was good we did not have to spend a lot of time in the property so managed to enjoy Anglesey. It would take very little time and effort to make this a lovely comfortable bungalow but in its current state we have no wish to return.

A very nice property with a well equipped modern kitchen and dining space.
The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious and the bathroom fitted with a large walk-in shower, Downstairs toilet and washbasin also well fitted out. The owner allowed us early entry because the previous week was free. On arrival we realised the heating wasn't coming on. We rang Linda the owner who came over within 5 minutes to remedy the problem which was just an oversight. Really nice lady who was very helpful. We were a little worried as we aren't dog owners and had two children including a baby with us, but there was no indication at all that a dog had been on the premises as the house was impeccably clean throughout. The gardens are spacious and well maintained and are ideal for children. The house carries a cot and highchair which was ideal for us. Recommend this house and would love to return sometime. We have been to Anglesey many times but never stayed before and there was plenty to do and places to visit with lots of really nice clean beaches. Our eldest lives in Cornwall and said to us not to forget to pick up a bag of plastic when you go to the beach, actually we didn't find any!

I reviewed other peoples feedback since we stayed here three years ago and canât believe no one has mentioned any of the faults.
The house was just about ok then but we only stayed there a week in winter and paid a fraction of the price we paid this time. The house is damp, thereâs mould in the house to the point both my children were affected, even the shower head has mould on it and all round the shower base. The fire guard is a death trap for kids and falling apart, the draws in the bedroom falling apart, extra sheets and covers stained, the sofas old uncomfortable and thread bare, badly thread bare down to the stuffing, tumble dryer doesnât work, we were supplied a high chair for the baby thatâs covered in mould I wish they didnât even supply it, and the heating comes on randomly even tho Programmed. The bins were an issue as the bins were all full when we got there. We paid a lot to stay here and wished we hadnât. The place is dying for refurbishment. We left early from this place because we didnât want to stay there any longer. It must be said that the neighbours were lovely, thatâs the only plus point. We have pictures of all items mentioned.

Great location, 5 min walk to a beach, close to amenities in Valley and Holyhead.
Lovely garden, completely safe and enclosed if you bring dogs or children, and great to see a washing line and if needed use of a dryer, but we didnt nees to use either. Comfortable garden furniture which we used as a couple of warm days during our stay. Owners close by and introduced themselves on our arrival. House large, sleeps 7. Downstairs rooms and bedrooms all hard flooring, would have been nice for some.large rugs in downstairs bedrooms and lounge just to make more cosy less echoy, well equipped kitchen, couldn't find any scissors but not a problem. Would suggest more trays to cook on eg pizza tray, chip tray and a roasting tray otherwise everything you could want is there. Two toilets is great but I think if a large family was staying another shower room or bathroom would be a consideration. However we had a lovely stay and would definitely return in the future, the estate is quiet, people friendly and lots of walks close by.

The cottage itself was beautiful.
It had everything we needed, tastefully decorated, really comfortable beds, great kitchen facilities. It was so refreshing to find a lovely place to stay that also welcomed our dog too, as you donât have to worry about leaving him behind. The garden was fabulous, and the garden furniture great, with tables and seating in different areas so you could sit in the sun in various areas of the garden. The cottage was in close proximity to several beautiful bays with lots of varied bird life, and was still great to visit even when the sun wasnât out. The hosts were lovely, attentive yet gave you privacy, and checked we had everything we needed. To say it was on a working farm it was lovely seeing the animals, but was still so peaceful. The home made cake was perfect with a cup of coffee as we unpacked. Thank you Rhian and Stephen for a lovely holiday and we will be back soon.
